Good morning!

We are considering a place we can put the camper for a while. We're starting on college searches this coming summer and won't be doing camping like we did in the past- going to Myrtle Beach for 3 weeks. The following summer will be spent getting ready to take our daughter to the college she picks. There just won't be time to take long vacations for a bit, just long weekends away.

We are looking for a campground that is in a 2 hour drive of the Poughkeepsie area. We prefer activities, pool, full hookups, and if it were on a lake big enough to have a boat too, then we'd be set! We have heard that there are some limits on age of campers-ours is a 99 and it's pushing the upper limits at some places.

So can anyone give me suggestions? We are open to looking.

Thanks!
Nell

Lake side campgrounds with seasonals are hard to come by. Without the lake, I would suggest Deer Run, outside of Albany. Further north, is Alpine Lake..I believe they have a lake. Both nice campgrounds. There are a couple on Sacandaga Lake, but that might be too far for you.

Doris,

I've heard good things about Deer Run. We've gone to Alpine Lake, but it's been a few years since we have been there. I've heard they've got new owners. That might be a idea. Where on Sacandaga? I know of Sunset Bay-we've friends with a place there. I don't know of any others there though.

Our daughter is thinking of the University of Albany and that's why we've been thinking around those places because it would be a easy drive for us to meet up when she could to go camping too.

Thanks for suggestions, if you think of others send them too!

Nell
