I am looking for some help on solar panels. My parents have there rig set up in a woodlot with no power other than battery while they prepare to build a camp.

I can buy a 5 watt solar panel at Harbor freight for $40.00 to help keep there batteries charged. Or I can get a larger one (surface area) and it's 15 watts through Northern Tools for $80.00. How do I shop around for these items? Is it the wattage that I should be concerned with or the surface area or something else?

I will take any help that you can provide. goodbye for now.

Brett

I know nothing about these, but when a friend was looking, we put 'solar panels review' (without the quotes) in a google search and she became smart about them very quickly. She know has them set up at her camp in the Adirondacks, because their camp has no electricity...but they bought them originally when they were building, like your dad. They had planned on electricity, but decided to go this route.

To; LUCEGOOSE;

RE; SOLAR PANELS;

The size of a solar panel depends onwhat you want to run and also the size of the battery bank.

As you see by my signature , I am heavily involved with solar and inverters. Expert?? NO,

But I have used them on 3 different coaches and

am thinking of adding another panel.

Any questions, just ask and post.

Good luck-- AIME--

Brett,
We have a small one that charges the batteries. It works well for that but you could never run anything off it. Those prices you quoted seemed low to me. But I am no expert either.
