Well folks, our namesake, the Nor'easter arrived with force here in Vermont this week. Between Hurricane Wilma and a nor'easter storm, 40,000 lost power due to heavy wet snow on trees which were still leaved. Now I know 40,000 sounds like a small # but remember our population is only about 600,000. That was Tuesday night and there are still about 25,000 without power today. But Vermonters are tough and resourceful so people are surviving one way or another. Fortunately it's not terribly cold so pipes won't freeze and that sort of thing. We are near a substation so our power was only out for about 11 hrs. Actually it was kind of fun for that period of time. And it came back on at 6:30 am so we could take showers and have coffee. Well, that's the story here.

Oh Bob you naughty boy. Remember George has a bad back.... But you know how these black outs are, there always seems to be a surge in the population 9 months after.

Went down to Niantic, Ct. the day that the I-91 collapsed somewhere south of Enfield and it took me 2 1/2 hrs. to get from Springfield to Enfield.
The past weekend on my way home from Virginia I opted out of taking the I-84 > I-91 because I would have arrived at Danbury and surrounding communities for rush hour and also Vermont is a three-hour drive, but I have no trouble stretching it to a three-day drive. For the first time in my life I did not regret not bumming around Vermont on my way home! (Did however wake up to *white* yesterday morning on the I-97 north of Glen's Falls).

Hey 2Roadrunners,
Next time you are bumming around in Vermont, give us a holler. We can get together and have dinner or something and do a live irv2 chat.

Gee Lynn, I'm sorry I missed the bad weather. It's not that warm here in Florida either...I don't think it broke 80 today LOL! Well, we'll be back to it soon enough.

Oh Doris, just rub it in. We still have a few spots of snow in the back yard although the weekend was sunny. Up in the higher 50's today so it should melt. Eveyone in VT has had there power restored now.
