As some of you in attendance at the National Rally know, Tom had some trouble with his truck. I too had problems on the way to the rally with my toad (motorcycle) and a minor electrical problem on my coach that caused my dash to beep at me incessantly for about 400 miles! Here's a few of the photos...
Tom & Bill investigate the oil leak.
Blue Hill breakdown near the Appalachian (sp?) Trail.
Nor'Easters "helping" Tom.
My broken motorcycle trailer.

I can't tell what kind of truck that is! I can see some kind of Blue Oval on the front ,but cant read the writing in it .
On a side note, the campground we were headed to was without electric for most of the day, until we got there. Thanks Tom for keeping us in a shady spot.I have never had that much of a good time broken down in my life. It was funny seeing that blue 35u screaming up the hill and stop so fast that I swear I saw a dog and a tv fly threw the windshield .Thats a Buddy! I hope if I ever broke down it is with youse guys. Great pics!!!

We could have used our Nor'Easter troop yesterday. We had a blow out on the NY Thruway. Had to get a service truck because the lug nuts were kind of rusted on. But it wasn't as bad as it might have been, I heard the noise (not a big noise) and saw something flapping and someone went by us alerting us to the blow out. It took out some of the protective underside which can be easily replaced and really didn't do any other damage I think because we caught it early. The tire was still deflating when we stopped. So after about an hour on the side of the thruway and $67, the spare was mounted on the rig and we were on our way home without further incident. Looks like the rig will be getting new set of shoes all the way around.

Wow Lynn & George, Sorry to hear about your problems. We're glad everything worked out okay. We had the same expierence in South Dakota and Indiana 2 years ago. Good Sam took care of us both times. Did you have Carlisle tires on your camper? We did and I got rid of all of them after reading about so many people having blow outs. Running Goodyears now.

Oh Boy, Lynn! That could have been disastrous. I'm glad you guys are OK.
Sounds like new tires on the rig is a good idea. I keep reading that RV tires should be replaced about every seven to ten years regardless of treadwear. I know mine will still have good tread on them by that time, but will most likely be sun damaged. It's really gonna be hard to shell out the bucks for new tires even if they "LOOK" good.
Sorry to hear of your troubles.

The tires aren't even that old since it's a 2001 rig. I don't know the brand of tire, I looked but couldn't really see it clearly on the tire. We were lucky that there wasn't more damage. It's scary because you couldn't really hear it and George couldn't detect any difference in the handling. That might have been different as the tire deflated.

Glad to hear there was not more serious damage, or worse.
Double check the make. If they are Carlisle tires you may be able to get new tires all around. I had the tread seperate on one, and it was determined to be a manufacturing defect. Had all four tires and the spare replaced on Good Years dime since they manufactured the tires for Carlisle. This is very common of Carlisle tires around that time period. Do a search and you wil see all the horror stories about these tires.

I know what you mean. It was 140*F in the powerhouse last night. Miserable way to work. I'm gonna reward myself by going camping this week end.
