Hi does anyone live near Shady Acres TP on Rt.41 in Fort Myers? We used to camp there 2-5 years ago, but are renting a "travel trailer" there the month of March 2007. Can anyone check on site #145 please? They say it has a slide, but I'm afraid it is run down (because of price). They advertised it as having a Florida room, but hubby called and they said NO. Please, I'd really appreciate this if you could check. I hate to do this without seeing it first. Thanks

Hi, Sue:
I'm sorry but we are quite a distance from Fort Myers or we'd be happy to check it out for you. I did access their website and they do talk about a Florida Room in one of their trailers. I also noticed that the park has WiFi which would be a definite upgrade. Check out the website and see if you can find any additional info you may not know.

Best wishes,

Sue,
Hate to use cliches, but here's two of 'em:
1. "If it's sounds too good to be true, it probably is." If the rate for this place is well below other comparable places, then the accommodations are probably below also.
2. "A picture is worth a thousand words". Can you get the management to email you a few pictures of the place? That should help you make a decision.
Sorry that we are also considerable distance from Ft. Myers.

Not sure how far River Bend is from Fort Myers, but LugNut from the forum is there for the winter...
He spends a lot of time in the Newmar forum and if these two locales are close, might be someone to ask...

River Bend is 17 miles east of Fort Myers on the Caloosahatchie River. Three club houses, docks, bar and great restaurant. It is however a A class motor coach only resort.

Lug Nut, how long of a drive is it to Sanibel from River Bend? Is it close enough to go back and forth to Sanibel Island during the day?
Last year we met up with friends in Naples and drove back and forth from Pelican Lake to Naples twice each day ...traffic and drive took took too long.

You should be able to driveto Sanibel in about 1 Hour, depending on the time of the day (rush hour) & Weekends will be busier.
