Do yawl want me to drop the "Florida Boomers" name from this forum and change it to "Florida Cooters"? If so, I could remove the flamingo at the top and replace it with the Florida Cooter emblem Dave (Half Dimes) is using on his avatar if he grants permission to me to steal it.

Well, it is apparently developing into 2 different groups. I have nothing against the Cooters, but I will always be a Boomer. If anything, put them both up. I would think there is room for both in the Southeast Region.

Richard,
We pretty much missed out on the changes because we were out traveling. However, we did make it to Rock Crusher at the end of October and attended a meeting (I know, goes against the Boomer rules) where the group decided to become the Florida Boomer Cooter Clan. I suggested Florida Boomer Coot(er) Clan and people said they liked that, but I'm not sure they adopted it. The flamingo has been dropped by the group that camped in October in favor of the new RV'er turtle(cooter is a southern thang, I understand). Dave said he would contact you and ask to have the flamingo replaced with the cooter logo. There is a message up here somewhere by Halfdimes explaining the decisions that were made by the group. I'm just along for the ride and the friends, fun, and adventure.

P.S. I think the cooter logo is the one I'm using as my avatar. That's what they put on their t-shirts and that's the one the Kissimmee Kids sent to me.

I'll leave the poll up a few more days so others can cast their vote. I'm open minded, we can put just about anything up there that's collectively agreed on.

Richard,
You are welcome to 'steal' the Cooter emblem. Grand Cooter (Kissimmee Kids) should be weighing in here soon with his opinion. We did agree on Florida Boomer/Cooter Clan as a name. However, when I made up the logo, I just used Cooters as it looked better. I'm open to suggestions. I'm happy to see the pink chicken go away. We can put different hats on it for different regions but its still the same bird. I think "Boomers" tends to describe a particular age group and may discourage younger (or older) folks from joining in.
Boomer, or Cooter, or Boomer/Cooter Clan: It's still one group. As long as we get out there and have fun it probably doesn't matter.

I go for the Florida Cooter as I am not a boomer as you can not be 62 before 1/1/2008.

I'm going to try to clear things up.
1. There is only one group of RVers.
2. Over the past several months Dave and I have taken on the task of revitalizing the group.
3. In this effort several members began having fun with the Cooter concept and it was decided that the Boomers would change their symbol and name to reflect this idea.
4. To give the Florida Boomers their unique identity it was agreed on that the Florida Boomers Cooter Clan would be the official name.
5. If you were or are a Boomer you are now considered a member of the Cooter Clan. If you don't fully understand the concept you will be enlighted at the next rally you attend.
6. As with any organization abbreviated names are often used. Dave and I felt that the symbols were too cluttered with our offficial name "Florida Boomers Cooter Clan RV Club," and elected to shorten it to Cooter Clan for the Avatar
7. Most importantly is to remember that the Purpose of this group is to promote FUN, FRIENDSHIPS, and ADVENTURE among our membership.

Guess I missed that deadline too. Does that make us old coot(er)s?

Yes, I remember Mary's comment (see, I was listening). Us ol' coots sometimes forget to give credit where credit's due.

Being an old coot, I'm sticking to Coot(er)s but don't care one way or the other about how it is used for graphic purposes. I kind of like my avatar better than Half Dimes; the problem of getting the "official" group name goes away.
Cheryl, I think you have to send the file to the individual who then uploads it as their avatar.
