Since our original Valentines weekend rally didn't work out, here's an alternative: the annual Soggy Bottom Bluegrass Bunch pig roast is February 6 & 7. This happens at Sertoma Youth Ranch south of Brooksville.

As some of you know, this is a nice place with both shaded or sunny sites. Sewer is not available at the site but there is a dump station and the bathrooms are kept clean. We've had fun here before and the pig roast is supposed to be a lot of fun. To participate in the pig roast, you must be a member of the Soggy Bottom Bluegrass Bunch. That's no problem since annual dues per person is only $10 and that entitles you to not only attend the pig roast but all their monthly rallies and gets you a $2 per night discount off the regular $17 per night camp site fee. Sewer dump fee is $4. Banjo picking ability is not a prerequisite and watching the folks that do pick is very enjoyable.

We'll probably go down on Thursday Feb. 5 and stay through Sunday morning. Let us know if you can make it!

Who's coming:
1. Dave & Jo Ann (Half Dimes)
2. Marty & Sharon (ladybluebutterfly)
3. <STRIKE>Rick & Cheryl (Kissimmee Kids)</STRIKE>
4. Jim & Mary Jane (Jim&MJ)
5. Dave & Starr (Dave Head)
6. Chris, Michelle and Sydney
7. <STRIKE>Jon and Sharon</STRIKE>
8. who's next?

Soggy Bottoms Pig roast is a great weekend. There will be lots of food and good old time pickin. The pig is huge (200lbs) plus about 30 pork butts, they ask that you bring a good size covered dish or dessert to add to the table.
everyone brings their own drinks too. Last year there was 2 tables about 40 foot long full of food. There will be lots of campers so parking
is a little tighter but if you park near the larger pavilion it will be easier. But don't worry there will be plenty of spaces with no reservations.

We will be there for sure!

Pig eatin' I can do. The pickin' part I haven't got the hang of yet. But hey, I got a month and a half to get better at it.

We will be there too, as long as we do not have to see Rick’s butt.

A sentiment shared by all of us, I'm sure.

Dave & Starr,

Good to see you at the Christmas rally. Looking forward to seeing you in February. I added your name to the list.

They're on the list. What stringed instrument will Sydney be playing?

On the way home from the Tampa RV Show this afternoon we found a new smokehouse restaurant in Dade City on US301, not too far from Sertoma Ranch/Soggy Bottom. They served us up great grilled pork chop sandwiches. Just another eating expedition option for the Cooters in three weeks.

Count us in for Soggy Bottoms, arriving Thursday and departing on Sunday.

Our latest newsletter from the Soggy Bottom Bluegrass Group says that the camping rate at Sertoma Youth Ranch has gone up for 2009 to $17 with Group members still getting a $2/night discount = $15 per night. Sewer dump fee is now $4 and will be collected with the first night's camping fee. I've updated my original post with the new information.
