Kind of new to Florida

Hi to all!
I am all new to Florida, moved last fall down to here (Lehigh Acres) from Wisconsin.
I bought a house with a lot large enough to park my motorhome in the back!

I am not a snow bird, but a permanent resident of southwest Florida.

I really don't care what you call me, but I for sure don't have cold feet anymore.
and if I see how much snow they got again up north, I don't miss the shoveling of that white stuff at all!

Sometimes I wish that shade would be easier to find and more readily available (specifically on parking lots of shopping centers)

Welcome we are from Oconomowoc WI and have been in FL. 23 years. We live in Lake Placid. Lots of good parks. Join Good Sam or look on their site. They have great lists of places to go. Also ratings and pictures. Go to the keys! Fr. Myers beach, or a nice park in Sanibel island that you can easily get into in May on. We travel to Vermont , Maine and NH in the summer with our Holiday Rambler (Vintage 1996) There are great state parks such as Highland Hammock in Sebring and the Dunes near Destin.

Thanks for the tips. I live only about 45 minutes away from Fort Myers Beach, and only a little more from Sanibel Island. The beach area around here I like best is on Lovers Key.
I have yet to take a trip with the airfoil boat from Fort Myers to Key West.

Most roads are nice in Florida. But when you get on some of the smaller side roads, you really start to wonder how come that they have potholes here in subtropical south west Florida!

We've been there 4 times and I always marvel at their roads. Best in the country. Always wondered if others felt that way too.

It is not that difficult to keep great roads here. It never freezes, and all the road deterioration with freezing and applied salt are not present. The entire state is a gigantic sandbox and road bed preparations are relatively easy.

But is you drive on some side streets, you will find that not all the roads are that great, and I still wonder how they can get potholes in them!
