We can't wagonmaster in September, but we are willing to do this for New Years. I've been corresponding with Dennis44, who works at Nature's Resort in Homossassa and wants to start hanging out with us. He has the ability to fit us in during the high season, bless his heart! So, we went for the New Years rally, and here is what he has reserved for us. We need to decide if we want to do this or not pretty quickly because he is holding space until he knows.

You can check out the campground at http://www.naturesresortfla.com. He has set aside 24 sites in section F for us from 12/28/06 to 01/02/07. All sites are back-ins and are full hook-up (30amp,water,sewer) They can accomodate 5or 6 more in that section and will find room for more in other areas of the park.

If I collect the money, the rate will be $24/site/day. $27 if you pay them directly. One way or the other, not both. I don't mind collecting the money. If we are interested we can set up a barbeque to be cooked right at our site. I don't think we would have a room to use and I don't know the cost of the barbeque. It also looks like we could rent a pontoon boat or other boat.

This is a fun area of Florida if you like to see the manatees, and they should be in by late December. Homossassa Springs park always has some with an underwater viewing area of them that is fun and a nice boat ride. Check out the other activities on the campground website, too.

The poll will be open for two weeks. Any campers planning to be in Florida over the holidays are more than welcome to join us. We love meeting new people and learning about other parts of the country from them.

With nine positive responses and your comments, let's go ahead with the New Years rally at Nature's Resort in Homosassa. Please review the first message in this thread for website and other information.

To get the rally rate, the first day to arrive is December 28th and last day to leave is January 2. Checkin at noon or later. Checkout before noon. They are not able to extend the rally rate either before or after the official rally dates. I think the regular rate would be $32.10, including tax, in that area.

The rally rate, assuming all pay me, is $24 per night, plus 9% tax, making it $26.16 for each night you plan to stay. As we start the list, please indicate arrival and departure dates.

The cook will only do an onsite barbeque for us if we have at least 40 people eating, so perhaps we should just plan for a Saturday night (Dec. 30) potluck in their clubhouse or a New Years Eve get together in our area. The resort does Saturday breakfast and an ice cream social on Saturdays at 2 p.m. Otherwise the clubhouse is generally open for all and we are welcome to use it for our craft group, Mexican train group, or whatever.

Dennis will provide us with two fire rings. We have some wood - anyone else able to bring some? We haven't even met Dennis yet, and we are really appreciative of all the help and information he has provided.

Here's the list:

1. Mary and Larry Prescott (December 28 - January 2)
2. Den and Roe (December 28 - January 2) (residents at Nature's Resort)
3. Lou and Robin Mitchell (December 29 - January 2)
4. Tom and Dee Staub (tba)
5. Jim and MJ Johnson (December 28 - January 1)
6. Rick and Cheryl Reitz (December 28 - January 1)
7. Derek and Audi Wendt (December 28 - January 2)
8. Don and Jill Schweikarth (December 28 - January 2)
9. Dave Head (tba)
10. Jim and Barb Hughes (December 28 - January 2)
11. Joe and Linda Jayne (December 28 - January 2)

Minnie Me,
We had a great time talking with you at the Christmas party. Just so you know, I was the guy dressed from head to toe in STEELERS regalia. Hope to see you at other functions in the future.

Now for the rest of you- do the Boomers have a contingency fund for diesel fuel? We are considering coming north for the New Years Party but, wow, are we burning lots of fuel!

Donations are acceptable!

Jon and Sharon,

Merry Christmas to you guys and have a good time. The weather up that way has been very favorable the past week. Hope it holds that way for you.

And to the New Years Boomers, see you next week. Even though we won't be camping, we expect to drop by Thurs or Fri.
