Aw, yes, another birthday; and Purrscilla wasted no time gaving me the first birthday gift at 6:00 AM this morning. No, it wasn't a hairball either.
It was a
S-N-A-K-E
She must have caught it in the cellar or garage sometime during the night and brought it upstairs. I had a flattened beer case leaning up against the wall in the hallway and I guess when she dropped the snake it slithered in between the two sides of the flattened case to escape the wrath of the cat. When I came upon them, the flattened case was lying on the floor and Purrscilla was sticking her paw in the hole where the handle was. I couldn't figure out why she was so intersted in the beer case until I picked it up to lean it back up against the wall... and that's when the snake rolled out. It was all curled up in a knot- a defense mechanism that snakes use. Before it could try to escape, I swept it into an empty box and set it free outside.
