Dave & I were discussing doing 4-day/5-day weekends (instead of the usual 3) & not going out as often this season. This should help to cut down on the frequency of gas usage & to take advantage of exploring where we're at since we'll be parked a bit longer in one place than usual.

Although the difference in fuel costs this year vs last won't be huge, it will add to our expenses (& ya'll know how much I like to eat out). We're hoping by taking longer trips with less frequency (vs short trips nearly every wknd) we'll be able to manage costs more effectively. That's the plan, anyway.

I about had a hissy when I saw gas go up 30 cents from Tues PM to Wed AM. I've gotten used to it going up about 17 cents & then gradually working its way down 5 or 6 cents before it gets hiked back up another 17 cents or so. But to jack it up 30 cents overnight is ridiculous to say the least.

Heaven forbid I'd have to start looking for work! I've gotten pretty attached to my early retirement.

Heck, I'm so cheap I wouldn't go for less than a week when gas was $1.25 a gallon! I would always be the first to arrive and the last to leave at events.

Have to post this comment.

Went to fill my gas cans for my 15hp riding mower. I cut a half acre. Took 3 - 5 gallon cans and 1 - 2 gallon can. Cost was $62.70 @ $3.579. I think it jumped since then so my investment for most of the summers mowing is paying off.

I'm also saving my GetGo FuelPerks to fill the Suncruiser. So far have 50 cents off for the first 30 gallons.

The longer weekends sound like a great idea I just need to convince all of our customers that we can shutdown Fridays and Mondays then we'll join you on those longer trips.

I've been reading about more companies and goverment agencies that are considering the 4 day work week. Possibly with the current energy situation, those days may not be too far away.

I have received $625 of free gas at GetGo from Giant Eagle over the last year. I agree with Lori. Longer stays / more camping..... I just wish this wet weather changes. Was hoping to get out this weekend (May 16-18)to West Branch. I figure WB is only 28 miles for me each way. I will make a decision later Thursday as to the weather...

Wow Jim You've been eating a lot of groceries to get that much free gas

We use the Getgo gas savings too, but rarely do do I get more than a buck or two off per gallon. I think the best we've done was around the holidays when I took advantage of their double rewards on the gift cards.

Whenever I do decide to redeem the savings, I always fill my largest gas tank and gas cans to make sure I can get the full 30 gallons of fuel at the discount rate. The Getgo near us does sell diesel, but trying to squeeze the motorhome in their lot just doesn't work.

Last July I filled the motorhome with $2.50 off 30 gallons.

Then before FL I filled with $1.50 off 30 gallons.

Joe, if you want diesel you can get in the GetGo by me at the outside pump towards the theater. If towing you can unhook in the theater parking lot.

When the motorhome is full and I have expiring perks I'll take a car and 5 gallon cans.

Well, we loaded up on gift cards to Home Depo, and Olive Garden. With the new Super Wal-Mart that opened here in Bedford, the 2 local Giant Eagle's have been giving 20 cents off per gallon (per $50 spent)most of the year. For X-mas we gave out a bunch of gift cards as gifts.
I did make a reservation to West Branch this weekend (site #40). I just want to get out.... The campground is 3/4 full as of Thursday afternoon. I was surprised I was able to get site 40 because it is a very nice site on the lake. The 6pm (Thur)forecast is calling for Rain tonight, Sunny by early Friday afternoon and a chance of light rain Sat. evening. So it looks like Friday's campfire will be safe and cross my fingers for Sat. evening. I'll be watching the Cav's game Friday evening. I wonder if John & Sue (woodburner)will be at WB this weekend.....

Tom,

The GetGo near you is the one I went to once in the Journey to get diesel. It is possible to get into the pump you mentioned, but because those pumps face the side of the store, the only way out is to back the rig up then turn out away from the pump. It was possible in the Journey, but a hassle, and those folks in the cars that all cut through that end of the station, to exit were a pain. I've just been taking either a car with an empty tank and a couple cans to the station, or my truck with it's 30 gallon tank and a single can. Either way, I always get my 30 gallons worth with the discount.

I remember a couple years ago when GetGo started the programs, I used to get free gas pretty regularly, but with the prices now, I don't think that will ever happen.

Jim, enjoy the weekend. We almost decided to go since it does look like it will clear up by mid-day today, but just this morning decided to stay home. I really have a few projects I need to get done on the rig before we go again and this might be the only chance to do them.
