Memorial Day 2012

In case some of you forgot who I was, my name is Mike. And I have been away from here for quite some time.

So I didnt want any of you to think that I ( and some other unnamed individuals) have gone onto better pastures or whereever RV'ers go!!

I know there was some discussion on George's facebook about where to go for Memorial Day and I believe that some are going to Shenango.

Joe, Bill, and I looked around for someplace new and found this place.
Roundup Lake RV Resort

It isn't the cheapest place in the world but not the most expensive either. It is about the same price as a KOA for a holiday weekend. It is located in an area where we can visit the Cuyahoga Valley park, Aurora shopping, and some other neat outdoorsie things.

So if anyone would like to join us, please feel free. Would love to see some of the old Piggies and any new ones that have joined.

That's the old Jellystone. I noticed the Jellystone website gone, but when you click on the map link of it from rvparkreviews.com, it comes up with Roundup Lake on the map. Looks pretty nice.

Thanks for the invite. We'll see if we can make it. I did something stupid & got a p/t job so I need to see what I can do about vaca time.

Ya, I thought that also. Years ago before it became a Yogi Bear's Jellystone, it was known as Roundup Lake Park. Is this the first year it is reverting back to Roundup Lake Resort? Checking out a few campground review websites, 12' will be the second year under the Morgan banner. Their website doesn't really give too much info.

Mike, I would double-check the reviews for this park. Tripadvisor.com Sounds like from the reviews from last summer there are memories from the days when it was the old Roundup Lake.

rvparkreviews.com recent reviews aren't encouraging either. Although there is both a 1 & a 10 for May 2011. Makes ya wonder if those reviewers were at the same place.

Has anybody actually checked it out?

We used to go there as kids and remember it being kind of rowdy. Camped there once when it was Jellystone, and thought it was over priced. I wonder if Jellystone Parks have priced themselves out of the market.

Hey (Miker) welcome back to earth...I thought you forgot about us Northern Ohio RVers....We may have parked our Rv's for the winter, but were always planning ahead...

I've been too busy planning trips around rallies (Fleetwood, FMCA & iRV2) I haven't much thought about Memorial Day but I guess it is about that time.

I have all my week long trips reserved. Just need to reserve 3 more days in the Smoky's at a private park....

Mike, check out a place about an hour north of Columbus, about 5 miles west of I-71 (Mt Gilead) called Dogwood Valley Resort. I stopped at their booth at the RV show. They bought the place back in 09' and have upgraded everything. Seemed like real friendly owners. They said they looked at 25+ campgrounds to buy until they saw this one. They had a laptop playing at the show which gave a over-view of the park which looked very neat and clean. I'm going to try to get there this year. They are a little pricey especially for the holiday weekends where they charge $12 more per night.

A little pricey? Woa... They want $58 for a full hookup pull through site during normal business days. I guess you get what you pay for.
We avoid the holidays camping so for me It'll never be an issue.

For me I could get by with their 30 amp / full service site / back in for $39 on a non-holiday weekend. That site goes to $52 a night on the holiday..

You might want to re-think about that again. Day use fee $6 (4 hour dinner / party hour pass) is $3 Remember this is not a state park...

We did try the Mt. Gilead SP. back in Sept 10' Nice small park with level easy to get into sites. The state park is on the east side of Mt. Gilead and Dogwood is on the north side of town. Lori, I don't ever remember you & Dave ever taking about Mt. Gilead. It's only about 45 minutes north of you. Have you been there?

Ya know; Mt. Gilead would be a good spot to try this year for me.
I think their sites would accommodate 35ft.
Never a crowd, NEVER....Actually it looks like VERY few go there.
Is that an old Nuke dump or something?
