Dave & I went to the Columbus RV show this past Sat. The show was scheduled for last wknd but the snow storm hit. They held it over since no one showed & slashed the admission from $7 down to $3 (& we had $2 off coupons). Normally dealers & vendors are spread out in 2 buildings but they had to cut it down to 1 building because the Ohio Beef & the Ohio Deer & Turkey Expos (already scheduled) needed the space. I never saw so many pick up trucks all in one place before!

For the most part, there were all the same floorplans & no innovative changes. There seemed to be more small TT's & hybrids; possibly trying to lure beginner rv-r's since the economy isn't so good & gas prices are going up & up. Although, this year, there was a new dealer there with Tiffins. Got to peek at a Phaeton 40QTH..pretty nice. Joe, is that a similar layout to your Bus?

So, the RV show is past, Spring starts Thursday & Easter is Sunday. Camping season must be just around the corner...right?

Sounds like Columbus was similiar to Pittsburgh's show. Seems like the dealers aren't bringing the larger lower fuel mileage rigs.

The 40WTH is similar to our floorplan only in the front in that they both offer the rear TV. The bath section is different. The 42QRH is most similiar to our 43QRP.

Did you happen to see Carriage RV,s 5er with the full wall slide. While in Vermont in Aug. we looked at Carriage's entry level 5er their Cameo line. Their up-scale Carri-lite line is the one with the new industry first full wall slide. The only Carraige dealer in Ohio is east of Columbus called RCD Sales in Hebron.. but I think they only carry the Cameo line according to their website.

Hey Jim; check out Tiara RV for the Cameo. They have some good pricing.

Downside to the new Carriage line; side windows on their slides do not open. But still a great product.

Jim & Diane,

I think RCD does carry only Cameos so we didn't get to see any full wall slides. RCD is where we got our Bounder.

The HitchHikers that were there impressed me. They seem to be well thought out & well made units. I just wish they'd have full paint like Newmar units have. I will never have another white rv if I can at all help it.

Woodburner that Tiara ( www.tiararvsales.com )dealership in IN. has a very good website. They give more pictures than the manufactures websites do. Looks like they only carry 5er's, toyhauler's and travel trailers.....

Another good dealer but a different Mfg. altogether is Walnut Ridge. They have a lot of really nice Mobile Suites for fairly reasonable price. I know it's a drive, but if you are seriously looking to upgrade (as we are); it pays to shop a while and get a look at some of the different products out there. We are going to try to use some of our camping outings as a way to get to see some of the different coaches in Indiana.

John & Jan,

If ya head over IN way, post any CG's you end up in & we'll see if we can meet ya. Dave & I are just looking for reasons to head over that way since it's an easy shot out I-70 for us.

Jim & Diane,

I think you need the Newmar Cypress 33RBHB. Robert would have his very own wing with a half bath & you'd have a master suite all to yourself. Oooohhh heaven! If you're gonna upgrade, forget the lite's...it just becomes another step in the forward progression to MH.

"forget the lite's". I really don't like the mid profile 5er models. I would rather head right to the top.....Double Tree Mobile Suites, Carrage Cameo or Carri-lite, Ceder Creek....My biggest complaint is the lay-outs that while relaxing for the evening watching TV you are either to close to the TV or too far off to the side where your viewing from a angle. With the flat panel TV's now, manufactors have better options in locating TV's. But this is in the future.....I'm very happy with what I have now. But after that guy hit me in the side of my trailer back in Dec., another 2 feet forward he could have totaled me and my Toyota....I'm very lucky...It's every RVers fear when someone pulls out into your lane......
