This morning I drove over to Canton Ohio (Mike D's town) to pick up a travel trailer that I saw online, spoke for, and got financing pre-approval. When I took the walk around inspection, I saw an aluminum channel on the roof had a bow in it, and I suspected that the caulking was comprimised. Upon further inspection with a step ladder, I found more roof problems.

That is when I called Joe K to get Mike D's phone number. Mike was ½-block away taking his MH to the Ford dealer for an oil change, so I asked him to come and give me a second opinion on the roof. Mike's gut feeling agreed with my gut feeling, and I walked away from it.

So we're still looking...

Truly the power of friendship and the forums....

Glad to have you back posting here George, wish you guys the best of luck in your search, but as my Dad used to say:

"If something seems too good to be true, it usually is"....

Once again you've proven that theory.

Not sure what I would've done if I hadn't had the guys in Mercer to square root my issue for me...

Say....where the heck's Bill hiding anyway?

I'm glad I could help, George. That was weird that you would be calling me only a block or so from where I was. Did they give you a hard time about cancelling on the deal? I always see different rigs there as I go by but have never stopped. I kinda keep an eye open around here for something.

Mike,

The salesman was a gentleman about it. I simply said, "I can not purchase this trailer due to the hidden damage in the roof. Do I owe you anything for your trouble?" He said that I didn't owe anything, and thanked me for coming.

GM

P.S.: Do you remember that Sentinel brake controller you sold me at Cutty's on Memorial Day, 2005? You didn't have the mounting bracket, so I used industrial strength velcro. It is holding fine! GM

Glad you were able to get ahold of Mike. Talk about coincidence that he was that close.

Probably the best thing to do when unsure about something is to walk away. Wise move on your part.

I'm sure this time of year, there's plenty of rigs that folks are putting up for sale. I think at the end of the season, people realize that holding on to the rig over the window costs more in payment so their often looking to make a deal.

Good luck in your search.

The good thing George is you have 6 months to find the right rig, the bad thing is that if you do find it early you have 6 months to use it. Good luck with te hunt!

Bob & Mike I sent you guys emails yesterday, didn't you get them?

Anyway my brother got married yesterday so lots of family get togethers and stuff to get done. Things should be back to normal Monday.
