*Sigh* - vacation is over. It was so good seeing all of you at Bedford & the weather was perfect. The drive down 219 to Canaan Valley, WV was beautiful. It turned really cold Wed into Thurs & as luck (unluck?) would have it, we were on an empty propane tank just when the winds were howling & the temps were in the upper 20's. Needless to say, we hunted for the nearest WalMart (over the mountains & through the woods...) to get a space heater to get us through our last night in WV so I'd have enough propane to keep the fridge going on fumes on the way home (guess we coulda fired up the generator so the fridge coulda run on elect, but didn't think of that). I'll post some pics as soon as I get them sorted out.

We're on the fence about calling it quits for the season. May hold out until the first of Nov to see if we get a good weekend for something close. After we winterized the 5-r last yr there were 2 really good wknds in Nov that we coulda gone out. I'm holding out for 1 last trip.

Glad to see you're making it through, Candace & Walt. That was a real freak of a snow storm. One for the record books.

Welcome Home!

Did you folks get to ride the train? If so, how was it?

I really enjoyed looking at all those Mustang pictures.

My sister owned a 67 and I think she had those same wire wheel covers as yours. In the pictures, I didn't notice any cars that were the color of hers, though. It was a metallic blue/green kind of color. She ordered the car with a 289 and a four-speed. Even as stock, it would go, go, go.

Glad you had a good time, Lori. We hope to get out one or two more times ourselves this year yet. Will see.

Frank-

Unfortunately, we didn't get to the Tygart line. We made a bunch of stops to take pics on the way down 219 so didn't get in to Canaan until late Tues. Wed the rain & cold hit, Thurs we had family come by for a visit & Fri was spent heading to the WalMart for the space heater. We did get to Dolly Sods (thanks for the tip, Joe) & Seneca Rocks on our way to & from the WalMart, so the sight seeing wasn't a total wash out. We've got over 400 pics to sort thru. Thank heaven for digital cameras!!!

Glad you made it back home safe and sound. With the cold weather that came in and the snow Candace had, we were wondering how you were doing up in the higher elevations. WV is a beautiful state with the varying terrain and mountains. I'd really like to go back and spend more time there.

I doubt you did it with the cold weather, but there a little trail that you can walk to the top of Seneca Rocks. Pretty neat view from up there.

Yea, right, "little" trail Joe didnt bother to say how far it is to the "top" or how steep

But then, if I can make it, I guess "most" people can make it.

I think Joe's perception is off. He also told us it was a short walk around the lake at Shawnee. Yeah, right - 3 miles!

It was nearly dark when we got to Seneca Rocks so we didn't hike up - stayed in the valley & took pics. We saw a couple climbers on the face, though. When we were getting ready to leave, they were on the top, enjoying the sunset. I thought, "how neat", but then I thought ahead about them having to come back down IN THE DARK. If I tried that, it'd be the one time I'd for sure meet a bear.
