Don, since the original date I signed us up for this campout, Jacque has had to schedule a medical procedure for this Friday. I'm afraid she won't be up to the trip, so we will have to see everyone in February.

It looks like I may have to cancel also. Yesterday a friend and fellow camping buddy, Randy Chambers, was found dead. He laid down to take a nap and when his wife Dianne got home from shopping he would not wake up. They had been planning to go full-time in June and were very excited about their new adventure. Now, as I understand it (do not have all the details yet), the funeral will be held on Saturday. As much as I hate having to miss this rally, I need to be there to support Dianne.

Ellen and I too will be going to offer our support to Dianne after loosing Randy on Sunday. They had such great plans for full timing. We hate to miss this rally, but our priorities must be elsewhere this weekend.

Don -

If you get this, I got a call from the Bombergers who cancelled - Dennis came down with the flu. They called the rv park to let them. I also got an email from Simpsons who cancelled. I don't know if they called you or the rv park to cancel.

Sandy

Looks like we're losing some folks, but for those still coming, here's an update from a Wacoan. We got rain today, but very light most of the day. I'd say less than a quarter inch. However, I visited the RV park yesterday and most of it is NOT paved, so be prepared for lots of muddy shoes as it's supposed to rain tomorrow.

The parking spots are not hard stands, but they look level and they are all full hookups according to the gentleman I talked to, so no dump station usage this weekend.

Not a lot of trees either, but that's not a big thing. It's a very big park, with a couple of tanks on the property. The new power plant being built, is only a few miles away and many of the park residents are working on it.

The hall is very big and they do have wireless in the hall, not around the park. The park sits right next to Highway 6, so you all should have no problems locating it.

Like Don said, not much around Reisel, but Waco isn't far and there are a few things to visit, if you want.

Looking forward to catching up with all ya'll Boomers and having a good time, no matter what the weather brings. See ya tomorrow.

Ya'll have a great time, stay warm and drink plenty of warm stuff. I'm really sorry that I'm not going to get to meet Mr. Buddy Warren.

We, Shodrocks and Baneys are on site and have already enjoyed our first campfar. The park is a little sloppy but the sites are hard and no chance of getting stuck. There is plenty of grassy area on either side of the sites so your not going to be walking in slop. We just had a passing shower or two today nothing serious. I have a large canopy pitched beside my rig with the far barrel under it. The rally hall is very nice with a covered porch all the way around it.

Free Wifi is available in the rally hall.

Sat forecast is looking better and better and Sunday when some will be leaving is supposed to be very sunny.

We are down to 15 rigs now the minimum for free use of the hall so we really need everyone that has not canceled to come on out.

Boomers never let a little foul weather get in the way of a good time. Hope to see all of you tomorrow.

Earlene and I had already indicated that we would not make it, and it's probably a good thing. We canceled our plans for this weekend after we both visited the doctor's office yesterday. It's just a "cold."

We are going to try and get out next weekend for the San Antonio area.

We wish you all a very nice time this weekend.

Happy trails.

We're here in one piece, a little on the muddy side but as always the Boomers don't let a little bit of bad weather stand in the way of a great time. Choo Choo's are a bit noisy. Weather cool but bright sunshine now. Looking forward to the Fish Fry tonight.

2010 Kick-Off Campout at Riesel, Texas

came off just fine despite the bad weather, muddy roads, slight chill in the air and
train whistles!!

Once everyone arrived, we quickly settled in to make it a great campout
as we always do!
By Saturday noon, the sun was shining and
we were still having fun!

WELCOME TO OUR NEWBIES!
Frank and Janet Boerner out of LaPorte
Jim and Marge Roberts out of Round Rock

We hope to see ya'll again soon at another campout near you!

also a welcome to Billy and Rhonda Brewer out oof Keller, Texas who
found us online and decided to brave the weather to come to Riesel
just to meet this group called The Texas Boomers

They had us "farkel-ing" all afternoon and into the night!

Friday Night was a "Lite Snack Night" - ha! NOT! It never ceases to amaze me the food that is spread out for a Texas Boomer meal! Between soup and gumbo and lots of other dishes on the counter - if anyone left the building hungry...it was your own fault!

Saturday's breakfast...again, another feast to behold. Saturday night Catfish Fry was awesome (as it always is) and none of us went to bed hungry! One frying pot didn't make it, though through the frying process. It's a goner!

Thank you Don and Pat
for puttin' out the welcome tent
and hosting another great event!
We all know the work involved rule to make sure everyone's tended to -
you do it with grace and ease and we all appreciate it!

Last but not least -
A note of appreciation to Walkabout RV Park, Bill and Marilyn, for allowing us to be the first rally they've ever hosted at the park. It was a learning experience for them and we were able to share some things to help make future rally groups/attendees have an enjoyable experience. No one can control the weather and as seasoned campers we made the best of it and still managed to have a great time. As the park continues to grow, I'm sure we'll see some more amenities for groups and we are proud to be a part of that experience for them.
