I use a socket wrench with the help of a bar if need be and just apply a steady pressure.
You may tape plug gently to help loosen, someone must have over tightened.
Should not use thread tape rod will not work correctly.

After using 'break free', vibrating the head, and replacing the 18" breaker bar with a 3 ft pipe it came out. Thanks for the help

Richard:

If you have access to a small propane torch or heat gun I would apply heat to the plug for about 3-5 minutes then see if it will break loose. Don't know if the stuff you've already sprayed on is flammable but you might wipe the plug down before using the torch. I'm not familiar with the product you've used so far but most products like that want you to tap the plug several times with a hammer after applying as the vibration supposedly helps to break the rust/corrusion. I would personally go the small propane torch route about 3-5 minutes.

Yes Mary helped me. Held my beer, brought me another one and let me know that my feet were getting wet as the rod came out.
