So sad to see such destruction. I cannot imagine how the folks who lost their homes are coping with this. Our prayers go out to them and those who have been impacted by this mess in other areas.

Our route home from Boerne was thru Bastrop. They had the intersection of Hwy 95 and Hwy 21 blocked. Lots of traffic bring routed on to Hwy 95. I would assume some folks took RR 1441 off Hwy 95 to get around the fires.

This is so tragic. Prayers to all of the folks in the areas of the fires.

So sad , to see people loose everything. A very helpless feeling to see destruction like that.

"There were 176 fires burning in Texas on Wednesday and 120 of them were in East Texas," said Warren Bienlenberg, Texas Forest Service spokesman. "Of the 20 new fires that popped up this same day, we found 19 of them in East Texas." Quoted from the 09/09 edition of the Houston Chronicle.

Our house sitter notified us over the weekend the "Elkhart Fire" was within 2 miles of our home. It never reached our property. The fire is still burning but is classified 100% contained. Sadly, we have friends and neighbors that lost their homes.

Please pray for rain, its our only real hope for stopping the fires that continue to burn out of control and to stop new fires from starting.

Just showed the DC-10 dumping the retardant on the Montgomery area fires, looks kinda scary seeing that big of a plane flying so low. The news reported that the winds are picking up again.

My son had about 30 min to get out, and they made it safe and sound. Home, shop and all else has been reduced to ashes. Am across Bastrop county from him, have been free from the fires so far.

Your quote above was also in the Houston CHRONICLE yesterday (maybe this morning) - no matter where you turn, there's a fire! Thank God for the sparing of your home and prayers for those who have nothing left!

ABC13 news just reported tonight that all the major grocery stores are going to be setting up "red barrels" in their stores to collect need food items, water, gatorade and such for victims in shelters and for those who are on the frontlines fighting the fires. This is for those in the Magnolia area (Montgomery County). I'm sure there are stores all across Texas doing the same thing!

I posted (and others) a video of the DC10 spraying over the Bastrop Fires...an awesome sight. But those on the ground are putting their lives at risk and some on the volunteer crews are leaving their own homes to save others homes while their own burns to the ground.

Please, God, pour down the rain

Hnybare..

Our thoughts and our urgent prayers go out to all over in the Bastrop area...so much destruction and you are experiencing that first hand with your son's property. I can't even imagine the emotional toll it's taking when faced with such a loss.

Thankful that your home is spared and will continue to pray for all those fighting the fires that it will be contained with no more loss of life or property.

Sandy

The DC10 was not used here in Bastrop after all, it has been dropping it's retardent on a fire near Montgomery or Houston. The forrest service said Bastrop did not require the additional help. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.
