Karl, when we lived up near you, we cut across 30 to College Station, then 6 to Waco. then, 35 straight up through Fort Worth. Not much in the way around, but have found Fort Worth easier to get through than Dallas. We will cut up to Hempstead to get 6 from Katy and run the same route. I hate driving 45.

That would be my suggestion. IH 35 is finished now from Waco to Hillsboro and is 6 lanes til you get to IH 35W to Ft Worth. Agree Ft Worth is always easier to drive thru than Dallas plus lots of construction on IH 35E from Hillsboro all the way thru Dallas.

Be sure to stop in West at the Chech Stop for Kolaches.

Karl, be aware that I 35 north of Fort Worth is totally under construction both ways just make sure you are not going thru there during 4-6pm (get off work time). They close the roads down on weekends also. We went to Oklahoma last month. Have fun

Don, don't know bout 377 maybe 820 because looks like where 377 crosses I35 is where there is a lot of I35 construction. I would stay on I35 and just go with the flow give yourself plenty of time. Could be better in a months time.

Thanks Billy

I suppose an alternative for those coming out of Houston would be I 45 to I 20 and West over to I35W then North to Thackerville.

That's good but I would get on US 287 before I got on I 20. Of course we go hwy 6 to Waco when we go north.

To those who are concerned about travel thru Ft Worth on I35w. I drove from south Ft Worth to North to TMS(Texas motor speedway). it is better than a few months ago but still has construction N and S. I will have to travel I35w to get to Winstar. So just go the speed limit are slower, try not to go thru before 9am as most people that are working are in a rush to get to work. plenty on fools late to work. See them every day.
if your coming from the east 287 blends in too I35w in downtown Ft Worth. Just be careful if I can make it pulling a 41ft 5er, ya'll can make it. Now since you made it North, coming home south is another pain. It will be slower than before. Have plenty of fuel. It may take a hour to get from TMS to south of I30. this is the point put the hammer down and have a safe trip home. With that said If someone has a wreck on the I35 or 287 were all screwed. I would rather drive in Ft Worth than Dallas. They are all fools in Dallas. Any way I'll bet we have a great time. See ya'll there.
