Forum Moderators

Who is supposed to be keeping this forum policed up?

We still got sticky threads for June

July threads that need to be locked at the top along with possible other threads about the 10th anniversary.

Where did all the moderators go.............

Threads are stuck and unstuck if necessary at the original poster's request.

Route 66 is correct. In the past, we were able to keep the SCS Texas Boomers forum tidy because Ken, Rusty and I had the capabilities as moderators to edit, stick, unstick and a host of other perks.

However, we are no longer moderators and no longer have the capabilities to keep our area tidy. Now, whenever a change needs to be made, the original poster is responsible to click on the "contact us" button and ask for it to be done. Be sure to include a link in the request so they'll know which thread needs something done to it).

Moderators are not assigned to any specific area so they are not going to come in the SCS and clean up unless a request is made.

Yesterday morning, I asked the admins to unstick some threads to tidy up the area, but missed the one in June.

Sandy

NOT a Complaint - was just wondering why it isn't organized anymore like it used to be. Now I know. We're missing you guys already !

Yes, Jim is a moderator looking for stuff to do and I contact him when I need something done. This week, he's on a vacation trip so I didn't want to ask him to unstick the threads I needed to clean up that day.

The point I was making in my reply to the original poster is that it's not a moderator's job to arbitrarily go into threads or posts to tidy up.

Moderators have overall capabilities to do that, but a request by the person who originally posts a thread should be made either privately to a mod or through the "contact us" mode to make edits on whatever is needed.

I didn't know that - sorry.
I have requested a "sticky" for my meal posts but never requested to unstick it because it has always been done as soon as the event was over. NOW I know, and I will be more diligent about sticking/unsticking in the future.

Emeritus (pronounced /ɨˈmɛrɨtəs/) (plural emeriti, abbreviation emer.) is a post-positive adjective that is used to designate a retired professor, bishop, or other professional or as a title. The female equivalent emerita (/ɨˈmɛrɨtə/) is sometimes used, but it is avoided by purists, since phrases such as professor emerita are ungrammatical in Latin.

The term is used when a person of importance in a given profession retires, so that his former rank can still be used in his title. This is particularly useful when establishing the authority of a person who might comment, lecture or write on a particular subject. The word is typically used as a post positional adjective but can also be used as a preposition adjective. It is frequently capitalized when it forms part of a title. The word originated in the mid-18th century from Latin as the past participle of emereri meaning to "earn one's discharge by service". Emereri itself is a compound of the prefix e- (a variant of ex-) meaning "out of or from" and merēre meaning "earn". Emeritus does not necessarily indicate that the person is retired from all the duties of his previous position; he or she may continue to exercise some of them.

Barbara -
No need to be sorry! When you start a meal thread, it's a simple procedure to hit the "contact us" button and request edit priviledges to monitor that particular thread. Only an administrator has the capability of granting this edit priviledge.

A moderator can stick and unstick a thread or edit a post as needed. To make a request for this you can click on the "contact us" button, pm or email ElkhartJim or Kablewizard (or any other moderator) to make a request to perform this duty to keep our SCS tidy.

Don -
Emeritus does not necessarily indicate that the person is retired from all the duties of his previous position; he or she may continue to exercise some of them. I can't exercise anymore!

Kablewizard
Thanks for your offer to contact you should we need help w/ our housekeeping duties! Now where would you be going next weekend out of town, perhaps!!!!
