Well, we missed Madam Boomers suggestion of "where to park it."
We wanted to get about 130-150 miles up the road from Texas City yesterday, the 28th. So I looked at some maps and decided on a campground called "Yellow Rose." (A second choice was "Home on the Range) I searched high and low for a phone number, got a cell phone voice mail that said nothing about being a campground, and hung up. Did some more searching and found out that it is exit 152 (on I-45 Northbound). I looked up the address in a couple mapping programs, like Yahoo, Mapquest, and MS S&T. Everything showed exiting on exit 152, taking a right and the CG was just a little ways down the highway.
NOT
We were headed to Palestine, TX, and after about 15 miles of nowhere to turn around, the good Lord provided a place in the form of a Baptist Church, small, but a drive around driveway. We had called the Yellow Rose, and the #(*&$ young girl on the phone said they were on the feeder road. (Cell phone number was Yellow Rose, but she answered it like she was expecting her boyfriend.) Back to I-45, and exit 152, took a Northward turn onto the feeder road, and about 1/4 miles up the road, low and behold, there was Yellow Rose RV Park. But it was on the opposite side of I-45. Forget it, let's look for another place.
Took a turn into Buffalo, found a CG in the "book," called, and they said they were filled up, and the other CG's in the area were filled up also. Now I think that was just a ploy to keep us from using another CG in the area, because Earlene found one called "Limerock Lake Marina, and called ahead." So off we go. Now you have to remember that we just put about 40-50 additional miles on, but 20 or so miles leater, down a narrow winding road, and to the CG. This is probably the end of the Earth in speakeasy terms. Narrow spaces, dirt, FHU, but very, very, very quiet. What the heck! For $36 a night, it's just a place to sleep. The 150 miles I expected to put on ended up around 225 miles. We only had 204 miles more to go today, and we made it, but I'm losing my faith in GPS machines.

I had a similar experience with ny Nuvi. It said I was headed to a KOA but wound up in someones front yard. That's why I now find a Wal-Mart or Cracker Barrel for quick over nite stops. I can see the signs from the road. Sorry to here of your delay but hope your trip gets better from now on.

I tried to tell him Mudpuppy...but nooooooooooo! No wallyworld for my high rolling friend.
Heck, he got within 20-30 minutes of my place and I have 10 acre hay meadow that's very, very, very quiet. Well except for the occasional coyote and the owls have been noisy. Oh, and it only $35.99/night.

Hope you don't depend on a GPS to get you to them
I know our Tom Tom wasn't the best at getting us to the WM's.
Cheers

The last time Jim gave me an address it was a Post Office Box. Try putting that in a GPS to find your way!!
Jim, I was a lot closer than you, or I, thought. I was on 79 East for some time before I turned around and went to Limestone.
I've had good luck finding WM's with my GPS, but it has been for shopping. Never for stopping.

I never rely just on the GPS any more. It is a good tool but I go online in the morning to plan the days stops or if necessary Teresa can go online as we travel down the road and verify the route.

Oh thats alright. My cg was full except for the premium sites over looking the lake. And the crew that washes and waxes rv's for tips called in with the flu.

Well darn Jim. I guess I didn't miss anything if the crew was not there to wash and wax. I guess that's why I washed it myself yesterday - never wax it. Not bad for a knee replacement on September 15th.
Let me know when the crew returns. I hear they work for nothing so I'll show up for the lake view.
