And some would argue that it should have remained a republic and maybe even annexed Mexico as a part of it.

And there is a faction in Mexico that feels it still belongs to Mexico and should be given back to them

There are those who seem to feel Texas should declare independence from the US.. (I am on neither side of that argument).

I personally prefer to stay a part of the United States, but if it comes down to having to live with a socialist/communist government, we did it before, we can do it again.
