Mike -

What time on Saturday do you have the Castle tour scheduled? Is it possible to go there in the morning through lunchtime and then those who want to go to Market Days can do so before heading back to the campground before supper?

Sandy

I posted this somewhere a few minutes ago, and now don't see it!!

Last Friday, a group of us went to Schulenberg and saw 4 of the 70 painted churches (Catholic - Czech & German) in the area. We had a tour guide from the Chamber of Commerce who was awesome (very thorough with her history and a great story teller).

Her name is Cathy Chaloupka --"CC"

I know the group has plans to visit Mike Newman's Castle...(been there, done that)...but thought I'd throw this option out to those who might want to do something else. Give her a call to set up something or call the Schulenberg Chamber of Commerce and request her. (Some churches are locked -- vandalism -- and she has keys).

Have fun!!

Hi LeeAnn -

The SE Area Group held a campout in Schulenberg back in June and a bunch went on the tour of the painted churches. It is a very interesting tour. I'm sure Mike and Amber will have another campout there in the future as it's a nice area w/ lots to see and do....so he'll keep the link you provided for future references.

Didn't I see on another post or something that ya'll are selling your rig
Makes me
Sandy

Sandy,
Don't be sad...we are thinking of getting a longer rig.
BUT, if we don't, we can always rent a cabin if they're available wherever y'all are camping.

Amber,
Thanks for your response, too. The churches are beautiful...the last time I'd seen them was 25 years ago, and they've been lovingly and painstakingly restored since then (more vibrant colors).
The nice thing about having a guide was hearing the actual history of the churches and she was able to answer questions.

Hugs to all,
LeAnne

Don, Thanks, was planning on calling you to see if you could bring some wood. Remember, I have my new barrel that you built, have it in the truck. See you guys there. I'm going out Wednesday to make sure all is set up OK, and place the Pink Chickens to guide everyone to the area.
