State park/s question

Hi we are new to both your group and rv'ing. My wife and I are both native Texans who were displaced in 1984. We plan on returning this spring to spend time in the area where I born and raised. We are considering staying at Bastrop State Park. Does anyone have any knowledge about the park or campgrounds in the area.

Silly as it may sound -- we are returning to catch the bluebonnets when they bloom. We also want to visit old friends in the area. I hope fellow members can comment.

I camped there a few weeks ago and it is a great park. They have PULL-THRU sites which is a rarity for State Parks. Full hookups including sewer at site, great staff, things to do in the park but close to town with fun night life. Beautiful surrounding areas. Life coming back after the massive wild fires a few years ago. I'm looking forward to going back. Zingergal

If you want the bluebonnets, you really need to go around Inks Lake State Park. The wildflowers are generally better there. Next choice would be Lake Sommerville S.P. NW of Brenham.

Haven't been through the park since the big fires of a couple years ago but it is was a beautiful park. The above link give you a sense of prices and such. We should have great wild flowers come spring with all the moisture we have been getting this winter.
