Every Christmas rally is a highly anticipated and attended event and each one holds special memories, but in all 11 Christmas events, I believe this one is going to be the "star" at the top of the rally tree!

LAKE CONROE KOA
Many thanks to you for opening your doors to us and providing us with a wonderful place to host our 2011 Christmas Rally. Jan and her staff are an awesome group of people who truly cater to an RV'ers needs!

49 rigs attended and 3 cabins rented - we were stretched across the park from hither to yon. Unfortunately we had some last minute cancellations, but even with those losses, there were Texas Boomers as far as the eye could see!

We hugged & visited with "old" friends that we haven't seen in a while
and welcomed new friends:

John and Debbie Binkley from Spring
Ken and Becky Lynn from Irving
Don and Becky Logan from Houston
Frank and Linda Whitted from Cat Spring
Lloyd and Virginia Rogers from Clear Lake
Dan and Connie Wimberley from Spring

and met some special guests who joined us for some (or all) of the events

Jackie Miller from Pennsylvania
Christina Spade
Clarence and Mary Lacy
Shari Ellerbrock Ware and her family
Mr and Mrs Doug Payne from Conroe

"Frankie"
came by way of Jerry and Janet Curtis of Missouri
to join Madame Boomer's Flock

and two very special guests who made a surprise visit for the
Gift Exchange

The Grinch and Santa Claus

** SPECIAL NOTE OF THANKS **

to those who cooked up 5 hams and 9 turkeys
to those who decorated the beautiful tables
to those who were on the set up & clean up crews
to those who prepared for the Saturday night supper
to those who manned the rally supper table
to those who made "goffer running" a new sport

*** no rally is a one person show ***
it takes an entire club to make it a success

RESULTS OF THE
RIG DECORATING CONTEST

Third Place Prize went to The Berglund Family from Wharton
Second Place Prize went to Jim and Marge Roberts from Round Rock

and the FIRST PLACE PRIZE went to

Larry and Jodi Mensch from Alvin

TEXAS HOLD'EM GAME TOURNAMENT
Don Allen, Becky Logan, Harry Hartley, Steve Elliott, Richard King,
Angie Fridge and Jimmy Womack all vied for the money
but there can only be one winner.....

2011 TEXAS HOLD'EM WINNER
TED ROGERS

The "Gift of Life" Project
The heart and the spirit of the Texas Boomers shined forth
as a bright light this year as we gave tribute to two ladies
BARB ELLERBROCK and BEVERLY MONTGOMERY
whom we've shared many memories with over the years
and lost recently to cancer.

23 people donated to the
Gulf Coast Regional Bloodmobile
who gladly brought the unit out to the RV park

and

$500
was collected by donation from the
NE Area Campout in November and the 2011 Christmas Rally
combined.

This collection will be mailed directly to MDAnderson Cancer Center by December 31st from the Texas Boomers
in memory of Barb and Beverly

(if you would like to contribute, please email me at
sandycreekmore@texasboomers.net for my address

We come to the close of a wonderful year
and look forward to a new year ahead!
See you in 2012

We had a great time and as always, we hated to hitch up and head home. We managed to get the trailer under the shed about the time the rain hit.

We had a great time, enjoyable weekend.

We also got to enjoy the cold front and rain twice.
First at RV park and when we got home it was still warm. Started to rain shortly after we arrived and cold front was right behind.

Was wonderful to see alot of friends we haven't seen in a long time.

I couldn't give blood because of antibotics, But Samantha was able. Her first time, very proud of her for wanting to donate.

Merry Christmas to all!

My daughter Christina and I had a great time at the rally. Christina says the Boomers are her favorite group. She was also able to give blood although I was rejected just because my father and I had hepatitis over 30 years ago from some bad food we ate. I went over and tried anyway but they said "no".

When we got home we found we had no power. Did I forget to pay something? Anyway, we headed back to Lake Conroe (Thousand Trails) where we have heat and lights. We'll see what tomorrow will bring.

GREAT rally! Thanks everyone!!!

Had a great time as usual even though I was staying in a cabin instead of my coach. Sheri and the twins really enjoyed seeing everyone again at dinner on Saturday after returning from Australia Friday nite. That was our Thanksgiving dinner as well since they dont celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia. I would also like to thank everyone who donated blood and money to MDA in memory of Barb and Beverly. I am sure they are looking down on the Boomers and smiling.

I hope everyone has a great 2012 - it has to be better for me than 2011 was.

Sandy and Crew, another bang up job. You all work so hard that I wonder how you have time to enjoy yourselves. But I know it is a labor of love - of us, of RVing, of making people happy. You managed to do it all. See you in the New Year.
