Don, your tire really needs a new hair do!! We've had our share of blow outs and each time the RV gets torn up. Hope that didn't happen to you. We've upgraded to H tires and knock on wood, so far so good. Glad it didn't keep you from making the rally. We couldn't do it without you!

Don,
Are you going to make a hair piece out of that.
You would most likely need it all, and just put it on with a little Duck Tape.

Duck tape is a brand name for a type of duct tape.

Yikes! How'd THAT happen? If you take out the rim, you'd have a waterproof hula skirt there!

I never had a problem after I went with 10 ply LT tires when I have a 5er.
If that is a Michelin, Janet Stevens is going to say it was "Run Flat".

I would like to know how long time it took to make your tire look like this. Was this an instant "bang - all air gone in a millisecond" kind of blow-out or did you end up running a distance before noticing?

I do know what You are saying Mich....will not admit any wrong with there tires. That is a fact I also know frist hand with a truck tire new on a Dodge 3/4 ton less than a year old. Also let Me say this. I worked in a rubber plant for 33+years and Mich....also were #1 in buying only 1st run product from us that said. I still buy from them also.Any tire run flat or soft will soon be destroid lucky the rim still looks Ok Bushman

On two separate occasions, the < year old Michelin's I had on my 97 CTD destroyed the right side of my bed and the exhaust pipe. The second time, I had an independent company inspect the tire and they stuck it to Michelin.

It certainly doesn't look like a Michelin XPS Rib which is all steel (carcass & belt) construction. Obviously, that tire that failed has a fabric carcass.
I've never had a problem with any of the all-steel-construction commercial grade Michelins I've run on my 5th wheels - either the XPS Rib under the previous 5th wheel or the XTAs that are under my current 5th wheel. I only wish I could say the same for Goodyear Marathons, Wrangler HTs and G614 RSTs. Yeah, Goodyear may step up and cover the damages, but I'd personally rather not have all the failures in the first place .....then again, that's just me, I guess.
The Michelin LTX tires used as "OEM grade" on pickup trucks have a fabric carcass - a whole different animal than their commercial grade tires.

I've about wore out the GY Silent Armour tires on my CTD. And I too, went thru about 5 brands of ST rated tires of all load ranges on my 5er. No problem with the LTs. Same with most of my friends. Sorry if I sound bitter about Michelin's, but I have over 1000 reason to be so.
