Does anyone know of an RV park close to University Hospital? Our nephew was seriously injured in a car wreck on Sunday and is in trauma icu. We have offered our motor home for his parents if we can find somewhere close. He will be in the hospital for a long time.

An idea is to contact the hospital and ask the question. There is a patient services number listed as 210-358-0600. Some hospitals have an area that will accomodate RV's. Worth inquiring about.

Prayers and the very best to your family and nephew.

Blazing Star used to be ready nice. It is not far from Leon Valley, which I think maybe where that Hospital is.

Prayers for all.

The hospital is on Medical Park which is of Wurzdach (I'm sure I mispelled that!).

Thank you for the prayers. They much appreciated and much needed. I mapped Blazing Star and it is 11 minutes so it is a very possible choice. As far as we can find out there is nothing at the hospital.

Copied from the hospitals website. They specifically comment on RV parking.

Hospital Access and Parking

Patient and Visitor Parking

Patient and visitor parking is located at the front of the hospital. A fee is charged by the hour (see below). If you require special parking conditions (e.g., over-sized vehicle, RV, etc.), then please contact our Protective Services Department for parking assistance. If your stay at University Hospital is long, spanning over many days or weeks, our Social Services Department can assist you with a special one-price, multi-day parking pass.

Janet and Jim -

So sorry to hear of this terrible news and will keep your entire family in our thoughts and prayers.

The info posted above is correct and certainly worth a look and consideration.

I just did a mapquest check from Blazing Star RV Park to the hospital and it's 12 miles away. Blazin Star has cabins, however they are EXTREMELY expensive (try $800 a week!!!).

Here's the link for Blazing Star
Title: Texas Camping | San Antonio | Blazing Star Luxury Rv Resort | River Walk | Alamo with all the info and contact numbers to call them.

Blazing Star is probably the closet rv park to that particular hospital. There might be others, but they might not be in the best of areas.

Thanks Sandy for the thoughts and prayers which are much needed and much appreciated. He is still in a near coma. We had checked Blazing Star. Katherine has decided to stay at the motel for the time as it is close to the hospital and has what she needs. The hotel staff has been very kind to everyone and has given a good rate.

That's probably the best thing as she'll need to be as close as possible. I'm sure the links Jim and others posted can put her in touch with those in the field that have more resources than we do in getting accomodations that are nearby.

I have a friend in Ohio who will be in Houston for 6-8 weeks for treatment at MDAnderson and they are checking into the same type of accomodations near the hospital.

Keep us posted and we'll keep praying!
Sandy

I used to live in San Antonio, and I seem to remember an old Mobile Home Park on Fredericksburg Road. It may be worth checking to see if they have a space for you. This is in the Medical Center and only a few minutes from your hospital. It was not all that attractive to look at, but it may be something for you to check into. Maybe some one from the forum with more current info can help.
