16' Jayco

I looked at a 16' Jayco today. The unit was pretty nice but the king bed support had been repaired. The plywood had broken. The current ownen didn't have any problem with it other than he said they slipped a 1 x 4 under the support arms. The corner of the canvas was also torn on two ends where it wraps around the corner of the bed.

It also did not have AC but he told me he had checked with an RV dealer and it could be installed for $1K

Other than those items it looked good. Should I run?

What year? Our Jayco gave us years of service with only the lifting mechanism causing us headaches, so I would crank it up and down a few times to check that out. It's no fun to work on. Also, does it have surge brakes? You may want to check those (or have them checked) as they can be fidgety. As for the AC, is that essential for you? We had one pop up with and one without and I have to say I much prefer camping without the AC on and everything zipped up if you can stand it.

I think it was a 1991 or 1992. I am not sure about the brakes but for the size I am sure it must have had something. He did not mention electric brakes.
