1986 Sun Valley popup roof lid rebuild, help please!

I have just purchased a 1986 Coleman Sun Valley popup camper, the roof has leaked at some point in the past and I would like to repair the rotton wood that is under the roof lid. It looks fair from the surface, slight warping in a 2'x2' square area, but when you push on it your finger will go through and expose the rotton wood underneath the surface.
I am planning on an entire rebuild of the roof lid. The outer aluminum skin is in great shape, of course I will have to remove old caulking and recaulk. If anyone has pictures of a similar project I would appreciate it greatly if they could post or email(briandrake@insightbb.com) them to me.
I think it would be best to get the lid completely removed, any advice on getting it off needed. Also advice on disassembling frame-work underneath is needed.
Thanks for reading and any pictures/advice, I am a new user and I plan on introducing myself next, I just wanted to get this listed first.
