1996 Flagstaff - what's the extension bar for?

I just purchase a 1996 Flagstaff 620ST by Cobra. I'm new to Pop Ups and I'm wondering what the Extension bar is that comes out of the back bumper on the door side of the camper?

There should be 4 extension bars for the fold outs,2 on each end. They brace form the tongue and the rear bumper. It has been years since I owned one but do not remember any other extension bars except for the door and I believe that would have been on the inside.

I have seen some newer travel trailers with something like this where a grill on a swing arm would be mounted. Other than that I have never seen anything like that on a pop up
