Help with purchase
My son is thinking about purchasing a used pop-up (2008 Forest River Rockwood High Wall HW276) he wants me to help him check it out.
What do I need to look for?
Does anyone have this model or any information on it?
Thanks for your help.
Ron

It's been a lot of years since I had a popup, but one thing they have going for them is that there are a lot less things to go wrong.
Other than tires and suspension, I imagine one of the more important things to check would be the lifting mechanism. How smoothly does it operate ? Any noticeable issues/problems with the cables, gears or whatnot?
What condition is the canvas, vinyl, sunbrella, evolution3 or whatever fabric used on the unit ? How are the windows and screens ? If it has an air conditioner, does it work? Any signs of leaks in the roof or sidewalls?
Does it open and close like it should?

2008 Rockwood popup
[moderator edit]
I upgraded years ago from a Coleman but it didn't have any of the features that the newer models of popups have today. Mine only had a sink, stove and table. This Rockwood has a lot more.
Any help would be appreciated.
Ron

Mich,
Thanks for the reply, we will be checking out the Popup tomorrow.
I am surprised no one with information on this particular model has come forward.
Ron

I had a very similar model for a couple seasons.
As long as the electric motor lifts the PUP correctly the other stuff is pretty standard.
It wouldn't hurt to crawl underneath just to make sure nothing has bottomed out and been bent or broken.
If the sellers will work with you than have the AC running and the refer on.
Most of the other things you could either repair or wouldn't cost too much to repair.
We moved to a class C but the slide on the PUP actually gave us more room in the living area than we have now.

Rockwood HW 276
I have a 2014 Rockwood HW 276 which we bought used 18 months ago, and we absolutely love it! We have had it out many times locally here in Texas and pulled it to Minnesota once. This is a great weekender unit, and we have had absolutely zero problems with it. It's kind of a pain setting up and taking down a pop-up every day on a long road trip, although electric lift helps significantly. We'll probably trade up to a hard side (probably a Keystone Bullet 248RKS) in the spring. This photo, from Jacksonport State Park in Arkansas is the camper along with my old truck - I have a new 2016 Ram 1500/5.7L Quad cab for towing now.
