2009 Jayco 14HW vs 2008 Fleetwood Avalon

Hello, I currently have a 2003 Flagstaff 206LTD, but I would like to upgrade. I really want a travel trailer but I have come to my senses that that may not be the best option for me at this time. I have seen (not in person) a 2009 Jayco 14HW and a 2008 Fleetwood Avalon for sale in my state (NC). I have always been a Fleetwood fan but reading some forums it seems that most Jayco pop up owners are very happy with their campers as well. I have researched the difference in specs in both units and for some reason am leaning toward the Jayco, but the Fleetwood is a little larger. Any experience or opinion on either???

Just as an FYI in case you didn't know it, in that era a Fleetwood was essentially the same thing as a Coleman. I believe Coleman pulled its licensing agreement with Fleetwood to brand their pop-ups as Colemans due to their ongoing issue with sagging one-piece fiberglass roofs.

Don't know much about the Jayco but we bought a brand new Avalon back then and really liked it. We did not have the chance to use it much and sold it almost brand new. It was a very nice unit.

I can say that I love the HW series but mine was a 2016 Flagstaff HW 27S/C. It came with a slide out which really made a huge difference in floor space. Not sure what you price range is but I would seriously take a look at one of those as it was trouble free for the 3.5 years we had it. Came fully loaded and I know they are in the $10K price range now.

Of course my first PUP was a Fleetwood but it was an 05 Santa Fe. While it wasn't fancy it was bullet proof.

Not a typo. I bought it in 2014 and had to order it. It was delivered in 2014 but they sold it as a 2016. Go figure. Maybe they sold it as a 2016 because that was the new floor plan for 2016?
