Forgive me Im new. Finally got a pop up. its a 75 Starcraft starmaster 8. It came with an awning that was self contained in its own bag. The camper has a C channel on it for the awning to go into. But I think Im missing something. There is nothing that I can see for the awning itself to attach into the C channel on the camper to hold it on? am I missing a corrosponding strip or something. The current owner said he never used it (it came from the the owner before him)

I can take pics if need be but? I dont get out to fasten it on.

Thanks for your time!!

It should have a rubber or vinyl strip attached to the awning material. This will slide into the C Channel slot. I had sprayed ours with food grade silicone (electric dept at Lowes or Home Depot) after making sure the channel was cleaned out (with a toothbrush). Ours was more of a pain to use (took it on/off every trip). So we ended up with a freestanding canopy. If the strip is missing, then you have three choices... buy a whole new awning... buy just the strip and I don't know if you can but it would require taking to a canvas or upholstery shop to sew on... sew a small cord into the edge of the awning to slide into the track. BTW, those double wire pipe heater tapes fit into the C channel pretty well. I used to have an Apache hard sided pop-up and I had to replace the tracks & living hinge (with awning track and heat tape).

First of all,
Howdy and Welcome to iRV2.com

On your awning bag there should be what looks like a thick straw running the length of the bag. thats what attaches to the channel if you let the zipper hange at the bottom the straw looking thing should be on the top back side of the bag. I dont have my pop up available to take a picture of the bag for you. If you have that , a short screw at each end of the channel through the straw will hold it in place.

You can but the awning gimp that Coleman uses on their popups from any coleman dealer- the place I worked for before used to stock it all the time.
If you need the part #- drop me an e-mail.

Thanks

Here is a picture of the straw inside the C channel that Kablewizard talked about.

Hope this helps.

On really old awnings there was a rope running through a loop built in the canvas of the awning. You threaded this rope and canvas through the C channel to secure the awning to the trailer. you knoted the ends of the rope to keep it in place. I know this won't help you, but it is some trivia that may work in an emergency.
