Hello All,
Newbie here with a lift question/ problem. We recently purchased a 2001 Coleman Cheyenne. Everything appeared to be in great working condition. However, this past weekend while packing to head out this coming weekend on our first trial trip we could not get the top down. While spinning the crank handle, counter clock wise, there was no resistance whatsoever so there we were stuck in our driveway with the top up. Being somewhat mechanically inclined I took the covers off the lift mechanism to see if there was anything obviously wrong- broken roll pin etc. Nothing that I could see. Did some research on the net that evening and read that if I was to crank it hard to the top the problem should be corrected. Sure enough that did the trick. I managed to somehow damage or reinstall the little ratchet cog incorrectly. I had to use a screw driver to hold it away from the gear to lower the top. I suspect there is some sort of a clutch assy in there that allows the ratchet to reverse itself to lower. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas? I've got an appointment with our dealer 40 miles away for next week for him to fix it but if I can resolve it prior it will save me an evenings drive.
Thanks,
Dave
