Hi! We have finally decided to upgrade from a tent to pop up. After seeing many different pop ups, we decided we like Fleetwood and Jayco the best. The dealership closest to us has a New 2004 Fleetwood Cheyenne. They are asking $9,995 for it. We have no clue what a fair price is for this camper. Can anyone shed any light or give an input on a fair price?
Thanks

It has been awhile since I shopped for a pop-up, but when I did I researched prices from coast-to-coast. I was willing to go wherever necessary to get the best deal (also good reason for a road trip).
To my surprise the best deal by a wide margin was right in my own backyard. I worked with PECO Campers in Tucker, GA.
Here is their web address: http://www.pecocamping.com/
Give them a call and compare.

Howdy . Try Here for pricing, even though its listed as new, as soon as you sign the papers its used. We have a Classified here, with only my 99 Bayside in it. Check some of the big dealers for new prices and if there is a RV Show close they usually have some good deals
When your ready check out the TX boomer's group Here they are a fun bunch to camp with.
. Good luck, and let us know how how you do.

Not much of a fan of popup camper's, at 9,500 dollar's you could get a nice 24 ft light weight TT, which is lot more convenient when traveling. We had one that weighted 3,400 lb.

Thanks so much for your replies. I'm going to check out those websites and keep doing some research. Thanks Kablewizard for the tip about the Texas group. I'll give them a shout!

While on the other hand a lot of us have little to no use for Travel Trailers. With the pop up you still get the smell of the forest and the feel of camping versus sitting in a mobile home at a Wal-mart parking lot.
I would steer clear of any 3 year old trailer that has yet to be titled. You will lose a considerable amount of money to deprecation the very day you take it off the lot. As stated above, shop around. This is not a good deal.

I appreciate everyone's help very much. We went to look at the 2004 today and it was sold. Therefore, I guess it was not meant to be. I agree that we would take a tremendous "hit" right as we signed the papaers.
Great news is, we saw an ad for a 2000 Coleman/Fleetwood Sun Valley at a very affordable price. We checked it out tonight, it looks fantastic. So, I think we are going to make an offer tomorrow.
We are very excited. Next I'm going to post a question about where to begin. LOL!
Thanks again
Staci

Hello,
I would say that $9.995 for a new 04' Cheyenne is way too much. Before we bought our 05' Aerolite Cub Hybrid trailer last March we had a 99' Coleman Cheyenne. We bought ours new in 99' for $6400 out the door including tax. I remember seeing a 05' Cheyenne (closeout) for 7500 a few months ago where we bought out Aerolite. Even if that was a 06' trailer with all the bells and whistles that's a lot of $$$$. Are you sure that wasn't a MSRP or their regular retail price. Ours had a awning, furnace, battery pak but no A/C.
When we bought our Coleman, the 3 dealers here in Cleveland Ohio were all asking about 7800- 8200 out the door for a 99' Cheyenne. So I knew which options I wanted and called a few other dealers within a 2 hour drive. The first one about 90 miles away gave me that 6400 price. I went out the next day and put down a deposit. If you know what model you want I would call around for a better price.
We camped about 225 nights over 6 years in our Coleman. It held up very nicely. We were going to buy another Coleman pop-up like the larger Mesa model. After viewing the new pop-ups I just happened to pop my head into a Aerolite Cub trailer. I liked the craftsmanship of the woodwork and the hitch weight was very light. We ended up getting one of the larger Cub's (24'). We camped 57 nights last summer in it.
I don't think you will go wrong in a Coleman pop-up. But you might just want to think about a hybrid trailer down there in Texas with all the heat.
Good luck....
Jim.....
