I'm planning to get a 2012 Rockwood 1940LTD tent camper. I had a hitch and wiring installed at U Haul on my 2006 Honda Odyssey. The wiring installed was a flat four pin. The wiring on the camper is a round seven pin. I got a four pin to seven pin adaptor. Are there any issues I need to be aware of with this arrangement?

4 pin on the vehicel will not have a brake controller circuit. You need to get a 7 pin and brake controller on the vehicle.

Makes me wonder what class hitch was put on the Honda.

The 3 additional wires in the 7-pin connector on the trailer are:

Electric trailer brakes - obviously, this one is quite important but requires that a trailer brake controller be installed in the tow vehicle. Without this, you'll have no functioning electric trailer brakes!
+12VDC battery charge - this supplies +12VDC to keep the trailer's battery charged. Since this battery powers the electric trailer brakes in the event of a breakaway situation, this one is kinda important as well.
Auxiliary - this is the center pin in the 7-pin connector and is typically used for back-up lights if the trailer is equipped with same.

Whoever installed your hitch should have asked what kind of connector is on the trailer and equipped the tow vehicle accordingly with a 7-pin Pollak-type connector.

You need to be sure the hitch is made for the weight of your trailer. It should be a 2" type. The 4 to 7 will not be enough. If your getting it from a dealer they should be able to help if not you may have to go back to U Haul and have them redo it.

With 13" wheels I doubt it has brakes and the only reason to have a 7 prong plug would be for charging battery and if you are on shore power that is not a big concern.
OK I was wrong with that much weight you have to have brakes but they are an OPTION but can be installed, probably. And if you are towing there should be a transmission cooler.

And at GVWR 2274 pounds brakes are not only required in most states but needed for safety. You need to have at least a Class 3 Hitch on your TV and a brake controller. None of this stuff breaks the bank, but it's really needed. That being said you will need a seven pin arrangement on your TV, but more than the connector you will need the Wiring and brake controller that support it.

I've since had a brake controller and battery charge line installed. I do have a class III hitch. My main problem was that the PUP dealer had told me that the PUP did not have electronic brakes, but then when I showed up to pick up the PUP was told I needed a brake controller that the dealer had to install before I could tow the trailer -- I'm now buying the PUP from a different dealer!

Sounds to me like going to a different dealer was as good a choice as the selection of the PUP. You did good on both choices.
