Hello Everyone,

I need help, I was washing my 98 coleman mesa today, getting ready for the labor day weekend. I looked underneath the awning and found out that I have an open crack that is at least 12 inches long. I am furious, because I was ready to buy a Hybrid and now I cant sale this popup to anybody. I am not the original owner so let forget about the life time warranty on the roof. Although, do anyone has been able to get waranty work from coleman for a major quality of workmanship problem. Help please, has anyone has been able to glue a section of roof with a crack?

Thank you

ED

Sorry to hear about the problem your having I am not sure about fixing the crack. But if you think the crack showed up strange, I would contact Fleetwood and see what they say may have caused it. It could be workmanship or malfunction related. They may take care of it for you. or suggest a repair.

Hi Ed,

Checked out the one picture you posted. It looks like its right below your roll-up awning. It looks like there was some force put on the awning, either rolled-up or in the closed position, because in addition to the damage to the side of the roof, the storage for the awning is also torn showing the screw in cleat that holds the storage bag.

It's hard to imagine that even with the awning left open and your PU closed that it would pull up on the bag to tear it like that, much less crack the side of your roof.

With the storage bag normally hanging there are the roof cracks and bag tears visible?Since this is used is it possible that this could have been pre-existing and maybe after the awning was used you noticed this or it was made worse by a windy day?

Maybe some type of road debris came up and gave it a good whack upside the bag.I noticed the bag looked a little scuffed.

Have you loaned your trailer to anyone?

Do you have kids?I do and they are experts at thrashing everything I own.although it looks like this force came up instead of down, you just never know when kids are invovled.

Lastly, where do you keep this trailer? Maybe someone smacked it with a car.If you havent opened your awning you might find some of the poles are crushed or bent indicating some type of trauma

yours Tracy

Two more things Ed-
Having dinged my share of surfboards over the years,I'd say that the foam underneath has been exposed for a while judging from the color and apparent texture the photo is showing.

If you do attempt to fix this on your own let me know and I have some suggestions.I'm in the business of making things watertight and it would be a relativly stress free prosess

Good luck Tracy

Ed, Tracey brings up a great thought, How far are you from where Charlie hit. Did the winds get real strong there. If the winds kept raising that bag and that would have done it. If this is possible, I would call the insurance company. Before you try and fix it
