Hitch ball
Here is the stupid question of the day. Should the hitch ball be lubed or left dry. I've heard both ways, and wanted an an answer from professionals. Thanks.

Just worth what you paid, but my opinion is to lube it. I keep an old glove to slide over the ball when I'm not hooked up. It keeps the grease from getting spread around.

Lube it. I've seen trailer tongues worn thru.

I always lubed mine with regular bearing grease. Covered it with a tennis ball.

A lubed ball will collect grit even covered. About the only time I run gravel roads is when camping. I lube the ball, and when I unhook I pull the ball mount, and lock the ball back in coupler. Much less dust sitting...

Lube for towing. Clean it off when you’re done towing. It takes exactly ONE paper towel.

Not a professional, but I lube and cover the ball with a sandwich baggy when not in use using a rubber band to secure it.

I haven't had a TT since 1988 but I always lubed the ball as did my father with all their TT's starting in 1958.

Lube it! I use a couple of dabs of white lithium grease before traveling, clean it up with a rag or paper towel when we return. Easy and simple.

People are going to freak out about this, but you CAN use a small square of wax paper. Set it on the ball, hitch up, and discard after use. Ball says clean. Paper takes up nothing as far as space/gap. You'll see popup owners using this method.

Tried that one time....went back to grease.
