Hurricane preparations?
Hi all,
We have a 2019 a-liner Ascape and this is the first time we've had a hurricane threaten (we're in MD). We won't be in the trailer during the hurricane but we were wondering what precautions we might need to take. The trailer is in the open on a farm where we store it.This is our first RV so we don't know what kinds of things are standard for severe weather.
Thanks,
Sandy

IMHO, the best prep anybody can make to protect any RV is tracks out of area...
If you could get it in a garage that will not flood would be good. In the open, and all closed up I would think it would be pretty wind proof, and should be rain proof. Is it on high ground? The big worry would be wind moving other things hitting it...

Estimating this morning hitting as a CAT4 w/ 140mph wind's!! and could be stronger as the day's pass.........They are calling it hitting with "Historic Proportion's"..........does not sound good at all!

If you can't evac it, I would fill up the fresh, black, and grey tanks (Added weight), slides in, park next to a building if possible, make sure the insurance is all paid up, and just hope for the best!

I didn't know what an A-Liner Ascape was so after a quick Google search I learned that your T-T is a small ultra-light that weighs 1,500 pounds empty. Filling your fresh and gray water tanks (24 gallons total) would only add 200 additional pounds. In a category 4 hurricane, a small, 1700 pound T-T will get tossed around like a rag doll. I suggest getting a trailer tie-down kit such as this one from Amazon to prevent your T-T from blowing away --> https://www.amazon.com/Mobile-Home-P...ie+down+anchor

Thank you all for the advice. The trailer is indeed small (1640 dry with our configuration), which was why I was so concerned. It's looking more like we'll be on the edge so strong but not direct hit wind and a lot of rain.
Due to a family emergency, evac to NJ is looking more like a possibility. And those tie downs look interesting, especially for the long term.
I feel for all of you in the path of a direct hit and hope everyone comes out of this ok.

It would take a very serious drill driver to put those in the ground. i'f you've ever seen a mobile home being setup you'd see that this step was a big deal. The average person would not have something to install these with. Insurance or get it out of there is about all you can do.
