Okay, I need some more advice from all of you RV pro's. We looked at a used, 2000 Coleman Sun Valley tonight. It seems to be in fantastic condition. What I need to know is, what questions do I need to ask the seller about this camper? Was there anything you wish you had known when you purchased your camper?
Thanks everyone
Staci

Stacie; a few things I would ask .... how often did they use it? I think a unit used often and in excellent condition shows that it was cared for. If it was used often what kind of services were performed regular? Every January I cleaned and repacked the wheel bearings, replaced them last year, checked the electric breaks yearly, and we replaced the tires 3 times. Do a lot of close looking, get under it be sure no bad wood is on the floor, open the draws look for water damage around the sink and water and drain lines. Its like a house on wheels. Ask the same things you would it it was a house.

We bought a used pop up when we first started our RVing adventure. The odd part was we looked at three (at private seller's homes) but only one person had it hooked up to water and electric so we could use the A/C, sink, etc. After a pretty thorough inspection and a bit of negotiation we bought that one. When it came time to sell it a year and a half later we had it hooked up so we could show potential buyers how things worked. We sold it for what we paid for it to the second person who saw it. The first one called back a few hours too late and made an offer.

I guess the moral to my story is use everything as well as visually inspect the pop up.

Good luck and happy shopping! I hope y'all enjoy your pop up.

Hi Staci! A good place to check prices is at Nada Guides You can get a really good idea if the trailers that you are looking at are in the right price range. The Sun Valley is an excellent trailer. We almost bought one but opted for the slide out that our model has.

I am thrilled to reply that after much deliberation, we now own a 2000 Coleman Sun Valley. According to the NADA guide we bought it for a great price, right in the middle of high and low. Both the seller and the buyer are happy. Now I just have to figure it all out. Thanks everyone for your help with this topic. Now I'm sure I'll have a bunch of new topics needing help. LOL!
