welcome, you will soon get replies. I am sure everyone is out camping since this is the Memorial Day weekend. If you are not planning on keeping the PU long, I would repair the canvas. You can wash & let dry in the sun and the mildew should go away. Check with a dealer as to what to use to protect. Used to have a Pu but that was years ago, and I am sure there are better things out now. Good luck, and have fun camping.

A lot of times it is the thread that they use to put it together with that gives up first. I have taken my boat canvas off and had it completely resowed. If I planned on this being my unit for a few years to come, I might look into replacing it.

If the canvas is giving up because of "rot" as you described and not just hard use, then I would definitely replace with new.

I have had a pop-up that one bunk canvas was damaged by tractor passing by. I fiddled with it trying to get a good patch but finally did a full replacement and was much happier with it.

I don't think you can ever get rid of the mildew on the canvas, so another thing to consider is how you react to mildew.

In my family we all have sinus problems and react terribly to mold and mildew. If I slept in a camper with mildew I would be miserable!!

Have fun fixing it up,
Sherry
