Red face Pop up question

My husband and I bought a 2007 Starcraft Centennial Popup that you crank up. I talked to a guy at camper service that says the crank wench could be turned into one that can be hooked up to battery to flip a switch and raise. The cost would be about $800. Looking for feed back on this. Thank you

Camp with it a few times to decide if the cranking is to much work. I find the crank is a short part of the set-up, power would not shorten the overall time much.
Then there is the fact that electric motors are stupid. You turning the crank, something doesn't feel right you stop. That motor will not feel anything as it tears the snot out of things.

Smile An alternative

I did a little research and found an electric drill strong enough to raise our Coachmen pop-up in under 30 seconds. Drill cost just under $100. No regrets at all!

Our Coachmen Clipper 1285st is one of the largest they made. Dinette actually slides out and makes a full size bed. It sleeps 8. So that gives you idea of how big. I watched some YouTube and saw people using the same drill. The Amps the drill generates makes it work for such a load as a camper top. It’s a hitachi 9 amp 1/2” corded drill.
