01/25/2013 Update (Blue Band Painted)

We studied on it a bit and realized if I painted the Blue Band now we could save one tape up. So I prepped it and sprayed the blue band. The color scheme model we did is in these pictures as well. http://sdrv.ms/10UX5ea
Thanks For Looking

01/26/2013 White and Gray Paint

Today we did the White and Gray paint. A roller is the way to go with this oil based paint. Whet little we had to do with a brush was really hard to get even. Rolling applies a thicker coat than spraying and there is a lot less taping.
The thing to remember is were not painting a car , its more like painting a house. The texture of the siding changes the process a bit and the results are a lot different than the smooth surface on a Motor Home or Car.

01/31/2013 Gold Stripes Painted.

I did the tape up and painted the Gold Stripes today. It took a bunch of tape and a lot longer to tape up than paint. I'm pleased with the results. DW says it looks a lot like a boat now that the paint job is complete. I'll let all this paint set up for a day or two and then tackle the Diamond Plate.

02/01/2013 Decals

I'm letting all the paint sit for a couple days while I deal with one of our rentals going vacant, bummer we have to work for a few days.

But I did find the time to apply the decals we bought from trailer decals, rv decals, race trailer decals

02/01/2013 Diamond Plate, Hub Capes and lights

We installed the Diamond Plate today. There was a change in the process but it all worked out for the best. The lights are installed but I can't wire them until the lift arms are back on and I can drop the canvas for access. Lift arms are set for Tuesday when my friend Tom will come over to help. The hub caps required modification but I got them fitted.

Here are the Pictures (32 of them) http://sdrv.ms/Wj0yP0

Thanks for looking.

02/05/2013 Lift Arms, Running Lights, Porch Light, Stabilizers

Today my buddy Tom came over and we installed the lift arms. We had some problems but nothing we didn't overcome. After the Arms were on I was able to drop the canvas and wire the running lights and install the porch light. Then I fit the stabilizers and they really help a lot.

Putting the canvas back up, repairing a rip or two, replacing bad curtain rails and c

Today we worked on getting the canvas back up.

There were several minor tasks to do to accomplish this.

TA DA !

We started this project on 10/20/2012 and today we're calling it completed. What an adventure! We had no idea how many different disciplines would be required to do this project. We learned a lot and had a lot of fun in the process. Now we're ready to camp. Of course there is always something more to do, but none of it except the awning will be very interesting. The Awning Material is still on back-order and as soon as DW gets it and sews the awning I'll post some pictures. I still have caulking to do and haven't wired the rear-view camera yet so there's always something.
I have included a PDF file of seven pages itemizing the costs of the project for those who wonder about those things. The final cost is around $6700.00 We could have had a newer and probably nicer PUP for the money, but it was the project we wanted as much as the PUP and Vintage is never a cheap way to go, especially when so much was purchased online and included shipping and handling to get it here.
Anyway here is a link to the final Before and After Pictures and the PDF file. http://sdrv.ms/14W75nC
We want to thank all you folks that have been looking in and all the comments. So far this thread has had over 2600 views and we were really encouraged by your continued interest.
Thanks for looking. Now we're going to Disney World!

I have enjoyed your progress immensely! Thank you for taking the time to take pictures and to post them. Your camper looks fantastic - the colors and the changes are superb. Now for some moderate temperatures soon...

02/28/2013 Awning Fabric Arrives

We got home yesterday from our Disney World trip to Florida and found the fabric on the front porch. Now DW has a new project.
