I am going to look at a 1989 Coleman this afternoon and could use a little help...

I don't know what model it is...the seller didn't know offhand when I spoke to him.

In addition to overall condition, is there anything I should specifically look for?

Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated.

Well, First off you will want to look for areas of rot on the canvas. Canvas is very $$$ to replace. You will want to look at the wood flooring especially in the corners. Check to see how it cranks up. Does to stay up when its fully cranked up. If it has a frig see how it works. A replacement gas / elect frig is very $$$. Most people would replace an old frig with a cheap dorm type one that will run only on AC. Look at the cushons including the foam inside. If the insides are deterioted or smell that will have to be replaced. Check the roof for water leakage. Another problem area is electrical. If possible see if the running lights work. (brake and turn signal lights). Are the tires dry rotted. Figure on $80-100 each to replace. Crawl under the trailer to see what the frame looks like.....You will have to add up the total costs to repair any short comings...Hopefully you will find one that was well taken care of. We started looking for a used pop-up back in 98' but decided to buy a new Coleman instead. We owned it for 6 years. I was real happy with the Coleman product....
