I posted a similar question in responce to another discussion.

The manual say 8500 gross with factory tow and only 7000 with out factory tow.

Can I fully replicate the factory tow and get the 8500. By replicate I mean coolers, strong hitch, wiring with brakes. etc.

Were there any engine/tranny differences. Different trans, maybe a shift kit. How about the computer setting?

Am I over thinking it?

Some will say I would tow anything with a windstar(usually the responce from someone who's never owned a front drive in ther life). And other who swear by it for a pop-up.

IUt an 01 with 76000 miles. I just bought it. As soon as the weather breaks 30 I plan on making sure fresh tranny fluid and maybe an additive compliant with the merc v. I was thinking a lucas blend.
