On my '91 HR 1000 it is visible with the hood open just above the radiator on the driver side. That one was easy on mine. The spout connector for the timing was the tough one as it was taped to the wiring harness behind the coolant reservoir.

I was told that there was an air manifold under my hood. I looked and looked and could never find it. My problem was that my imagination of what the air manifold would look like was no where close to what it actually did look like - and I had stared at it several times but dismissed it as being something else.

Maybe an idea would be to find a Ford truck service center and see if they have a truck about the vintage of your MH. It might be a lot easier to find the connector on a truck. If you do, look at where the wires from it lead relative to the wiring harness. I have to believe that the wiring to the connector has to be from about the same starting point and about the same length. It might help narrow your search.

Just a thought.

Well today when replacing the starting battery I found this connector taped down in the harness, however I do not think it is what I am looking for it only has 2 wires it does have a dummy plug in it.
it comes off the wiring to ignition module though? ( or I think that is what it is.)

THATS IT THATS IT, THE LAST PICTURE, YOU CAN SEE THE PINK WIRE!!!!!UNLOCK THE TAB AND PULL THE CONNECTOR OUT OF THE BOX!!!! YIPPEE! THE TOP OF THE BOX SHOULD SAY SOMETHING LIKE EECIV CONNECTOR!

That is fairly close to where it is on my '91 except it was pulled over the radiator so you can plug into it without pulling the engine cover. Now you just need something that can read EECIV codes.

I first asked the tech that looked under the doghouse if that was it he said no.

I guess everyone was looking for a connector that is OBDII with 16 pins.

That is it, right above the starter solinoid. Remeber engineering told me that the starter solinoid and the diagnostic connector were close but the coach maker decided to pull the harness to the left side of the engine instead of the right side of the engine as Ford would have done had they mounted the body. Now, if you have a swing needle voltmeter I can lead you through a process to pull the codes without the use of a scanner. Remember that Ford did not start the use of OBDII until fall production 1995 or the 1996 model year chassis and your chassis by VIN number is a 1992. The clean air act of 1990 gave the makers a phase in with some cars showing up with OBD II in the early 1995 production cars and then the rest phased and complete with the 1996 production year. So your sysyem is an EEC IV standing for Electronic Engine Control verion 4.

I have a 3 meters, an older simpson analog vom, a craftsman analog, and a fluke digital multimeter.

I could just kick that first tech in his butt.
said nothing was under the doghouse. had me take out the tv etc...

Thanks Brad for your help in locating the data port connector.
I found a bus garage mechanic who said his scanner will be able to pull the codes. He lives down the street from me , small world, he said " you should have come down here the first time". He works for a school district.

So maybe this weekend that will be history

Sorry about taking so long getting back to you but ran into a big problem at work.Glad you found a scanner it is a lot easier than using the voltmeter anyway.
