HELP!! My Adventure sits on a 1996 P30 Chevy chassis. It has the 454 7.4L "N" series gas engine with TBI.

Rats/mice chewed off the vacum hoses this winter while in storage. Does anyone know where I can obtain a vacum hose digram or have one they can email me? Maybe even a picture of the top of the engne without the breather would help. I am unable to determine where and what the small vacum hoses connect to.

While I'm at this does anyone know of a good way to keep mice out of my motorhome and off my engine?

Thanks in advance.

Brk_N_Bubble, They say that moth balls work. Check with your Chevy dealer for the vacuum hose diagram.

The Chevy dealers that I have contacted tell me that I have to go to Winnebago to get the digrams for the vacum hoses. Winnebago says I need to go to the chassis manufacture for them (which is chevy).

So round and round I've been without any luck.

I was thinking that someone in the RV world might have had this same problem and already resolved it.

Oh, by the way we have tried moth balls. We've placed them in all the storage spaces below and behind all the cabinet drawers throughout the MH and it didn't help. The mice have been happy though becaue they didn't have to worry about moths eating their fur.

We have even tried placing peperment oil on cotton balls in the same locations and that slowed them down but did not stop them. If we put out rat poison then they crawl into places I can't get to and die. The smell is worse than the mice.

How about a chassis service manual? The basic vacuum plumbing is going to be the same on any 454 TBI engine of that era. There may be some minor differences because it is in the motorhome chassis rather than a step van or pick-up, but the engine is fundamentally the same.

There is a manual specifically for the P32/P42 chassis but it is getting increasingly hard to find. Sometimes they show up on ebay, though. If you can't find one, try the standard Chevy manual for those years. Most auto parts stores carry aftermarket versions at reasonable prices.

Helm inc - these guys sell the original service manuals for the P30 chassis. When I had my 1996 P30, I called them to make sure I was getting the proper one and they were very helpful.
It was pricey at about $150 for all five books, but it paid for itself the first time I used it.
