I am purchasing a new Rubicon and I requested side airbags and the salesman told me that they have had some problems with the side airbags going off when in rough terrain.

Has anyone had this problem?

I think that the dealer has only the rubicon without side airbags and they want to sell it.

I have a 2008 Rubicon which I believe has side airbags. I have not had them go off on me yet. I can't imagine it's really that big a problem or people would have heard about it. You might look for some off road or Jeep forums and pose the question there. On the other hand, the question might be how worth while are the side airbags in the first place? I haven't seen any direct studies of the Jeep, but recently read an article where some SUV's and Chevy Silverado's actually performed worse with the side airbags than they did without. Anyway, good luck, and enjoy whichever Rubicon you end up with, we're enjoying ours!
