The RVDA Quality Circle Awards for manufacturers are given to RV manufacturers according to results from an extensive survey taken by RV dealerships regarding their performance in various areas, such as warranty support, sales support, parts shipments, etc. For the 2004 year these awards were given at the Louisville dealer show.

Three class A motorhome manufacturers and 5 trailer manufacturers qualified out of a field of 35 for the coveted Quality Circle Award in 2004. The companies were ranked in a total of 21 categories by 503 dealers who participated in the survey.

Tiffin Motorhomes received 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place rankings in 18 out of 21 categories (the 6th time in 8 years they have won the award).

Newmar received 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place rankings 6 times out of 21.

Winnebago was the final winner of the coveted award with rankings 3 times out of 21 times.

While these awards relate to the dealer's opinion of the manufacturer, I think there is a corollary here in that these 3 brands do seem to have a large number of satisfied owners as well. Apparently the trickle down effect works

There must be more to this story than has been posted. How does the manf. who "won" the least times get the grand prize??

It's diffently a goal which the RV Manufactures strive to obtain and which the owners wil attest to. Yes these manufacures have problems, issues to but these manufactures will go the extra mile to correct them as the survey has concluded. Ed
P.S. Great job Newmar,Tiffin, Winnebago

I don't see any one as getting a "grand" prize. I think that just to get one of these awards is a grand prize. The categories relate to the various areas of service that a manufacturer renders to it's dealers and customers.

Wouldn't it be great if some year every builder could get one of these awards?

Mark, please excuse my post questioning your original. I misunderstood the meaning of your phrase "Winnebago was the final winner of the coveted award" as I thought you meant Winnie was the last one standing at the end of the competition. Now I understand there were multiple awards granted, and it would appear Tiffen "won" in the most individual catagories.
Sorry if I added my confusion to the group. Ed

No problem, Ed. It may have been confusing and your post might just have cleared it up for anyone else.

3Huskies, you're partially correct. Actually Winnebago has won this award 9 times out of the last 9 years. Even better.

Sorry, but I'm going to be cynical about this award. If you look at whose involved, closely, it really only pretains to the Dealers and their polling results. It's the dealers who respond after all the incentives and kick-backs that they get. Any real award would be generated directed by the customers and not from some survey company that's being paid by a dealer net work or manufacture.

In my travels of lateley, it is vary apparent, the Circle of Excellent Award is based vary little on any real RV Owner's Customer Satisfaction, there a lot of unhappy RV onwers out there that haven't had their stories told or been heard.

What we as RV Owners need, is to unite under a National Coalition of RV Owners, so our voices can be heard directly with real meaning and backed with a real punch.

I agree with Tomcat about the formation of a group that can "speak" for all RV owners.

Good idea, maybe IRV2 could do an annual survey and hand out awards?

......they are just like "Real Estate Professsionals".....if they didn't pat each other on the back-they would be selling used cars or working in a CAT house....every Sunday there is a whole page of them giving thanks to each other...instead of kick backs....geof kaye

.....the other issue here is the sponcership issue that Warpath depends on to pay for this site and gives it economic value.....if we as a group gave awards out for excellence in the RV manufacturing industries, Warpath couldn't afford his 2nd new motorhome....which is going to be really HOT!....geof kaye

Interesting that 23% of the manufacturers got an award (8 out of 35). Also interesting that Winnebago wins with 14% of possible 100% (3 out of 21 categories). Sounds like a lot of self congratulating going on. More of a fashion show than a meaningful award?
