50 A Power surge protector on 30A service?

Just got done reading the "Using an adapter to plug 30 amp RV to 50 amp service" thread, very informative! However, I have a question regarding using a 50 A with a Progressive EMS-PT50C. Sometimes we stay at places that only have the 30A available and I use a "dogbone 50 to 30 adaptor, is there a way that the Progressive protector can be safely adapted to work on the 30A circuit? I should mention that our 5th wheel is wired 50A but only has one A/C unit and no washer/dryer, although wired for it, so 50 A is really not needed, but nice to have. I recently had to replace the microwave and I think it was caused by a power glitch, which is why I bought the EMS-PT50C.
